Well, if you’ve been around here long you know we do our Easter Baskets a little differently. People are always asking me for suggestions for gifts and I almost did a 101 Christ-Centered Easter Basket Gifts that would get re-pinned a lot but probably didn’t have a lot of substance. (And, you know my follow-through isn’t that great, so I only made it to like 48.)
Finding Jesus-centered products is something I’m passionate about. But the easy peasiest way to make your Easter basket gifts all about Jesus is just by attaching some Scripture to ’em. And this is something I’m reaaalllly good at. I like taking every day things and point them to Jesus.
So, here we go, a biiiiiggg list of Scriptures that you can use to make some silly gifts turn into meaningful gifts + some free printables to make your Easter basket focus on God’s Word. Ready?
1. Gardening Gifts (mini trowel, gardening gloves, small chia pet, seeds, planted flower, etc.)
“Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18
“Blessed is the one…whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” Psalm 1-3
“…Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Luke 2:52
2. Lamb (stuffed animal, chocolate, art, etc.)
“Look, the Lamb of God,who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” John 10:11
“The Lamb on the Throne will shepherd them, will lead them to spring waters of Life. And God will wipe every last tear from their eyes.” Revelation 7:17
3. Jewelry (cross necklace, bracelet, ring, essential oil diffuser necklace, etc.)
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverbs 3:3
“My son, preserve sound judgement and discernment, do not let them out of your sight, they will be life for you, and ornament to grace your neck.” Proverbs 3:21-22
4. Music
Well, this one is a bit harder. You can either do generic verses about music:
“I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.” Psalm 69:30
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4
Or you can do them a little more with the title of the album. Here’s some examples for some of my fave albums:
Taste and See by Yancy // “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Psalm 34:8 (ok, that was an easy one!)
The Kingdom of Heaven is Like by Rain for Roots // “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field.” Matthew 13:44
Seeds Family Worship // “But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” Matthew 13:23
5. Clothes (specifically, something snazzy to wear on Easter morning or a cool Warrior Poet shirt for your young man)
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12
“Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ as if he were your clothing. Don’t think about how to satisfy sinful desires.” Romans 13:14
6. Candy
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Psalm 34:8
“How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” Psalm 119:103
7. My Faves
~Adventures in Odyssey is one of my fave gifts. Either the CDs, the Club or the books–but since they all center around imagination, this would be a great Scripture:
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” Ephesians 3:20
~Bibles & Bible-books. Well, I wrote a whole series on this. I think that oughta do ya.
OK, but here’s the best part. Instead of just writing this on a card and taping it to the gift, insert your child’s name into the Scripture. So, Psalm 139:14 becomes,
Lydia is fearfully and wonderfully made!
Luke 2:52 is,
Asa grows in wisdom and stature and favor with God and man.
Do you see how those words become prophecies over your kids? How you are speaking LIFE into their little hearts?
This is crazy simple idea, but I think making even the fun of Easter baskets turn to the amazing, life-giving gifts that Jesus has for us is such a foundation for your kids.
