Bloggy Giveaway Day 2: Raspberry Baby Sling

this giveaway is closed. *sniff* winner will be announced monetarily…but please, feel free to read on…

When my little pirate, Asa was born (4 months ago!) the main thing I was worried about was NOT the late night feedings. It was NOT the crying. Not even the diapers. It was HOW IN THE WORLD WILL I TAKE TWO KIDS TO THE GROCERY STORE?!

I just couldn’t imagine taking a newborn and an almost 3 year old into a store and getting them both in a grocery cart. I went through every scenario: baby in carrier in front of cart while 3 year old runs around the store OR baby in carrier in the back of cart with 3 year old in front of cart—but where would the groceries go? Finally I realized, I need a sling!

I’m not a “babywearer” but knew having two kids I was going to need a sling to help me out! Well, I hit all the sites I could think of and then finally made my way to etsy. (Why didn’t I go there first?) I stumbled upon Raspberry Baby and I think the name might have hooked me. Or maybe it was the fabrics.

i have a nursing shawl in this pattern. yummy.

I couldn’t decide between all her cute patterns so I settled on the edgy gray ring sling. It goes with everything and I thought maaaayyybeeee my hubby might wear it. (He hasn’t.)

And the main thing I like is the way she suggests wearing it…with the tail wrapped around your back and tucked under the baby’s bottom. It adds some more support AND it looks super cute.

sporty, no?

Anyway, in honor of my pirate, my new life as a sahm to two, the bloggy giveaways, my new favorite thing and uh…the month of January, I asked Raspberry Baby if they’d like to give away a sling. AND THEY SAID YES. (That would have been pretty anti-climactic if they’d said no, huh?)

And not just any sling. They are giving away this ADORABLE “Inspired” sling in black and aqua.

DO YOU LOVE IT?!

It sells for $35 and YOU COULD GET IT FOR FREE!

Now, here’s the deal. I get a little antsy (and irritated) at the contests that make you do 50 thousand things to enter. But I really want to honor Raspberry Baby for their generosity, so I’d love for you to visit their site to see all their other cute stuff (like this! or oh, I wish I had this when I was preggo! or omg, do I need this!). So here’s the deal…

wrapped around the back. so sleek!

YOU MUST:
Leave me a comment. If you tell me your babywearing story, I just might be tempted to pick you instead of ramdom-ing a winner. If you compliment me, I really might pick you.

FOR TWO MORE ENTRIES:
Visit Raspberry Baby and look around. Come back here and let me know what caught your eye. (They also sell pouches, wraps and other cute mama-baby stuff!)

FOR THREE MORE ENTRIES:
Tweet this contest OR Stumble this post OR link to this post on your blog OR subscribe to my blog OR get my blog in your inbox OR write a 400 page essay on what OhAmanda means to you.

POTENTIALLY you could be entered 21 times. Am I insane?! Do you know how long this will take me to calcualte?! *whew*

Anyway, if you do any more of this stuff, just leave me an additional comment for each…just one comment is ok, unless you want to be like Dana from Are We There Yet and do my work for me (see below). Which of course, I love. And did I mention I love Dana? Well, I do. A lot. OK, back to the “rules”…yes, all you old current subscribers—leave me an extra comment and you’ll qualify for the extra subscriber entries.

OK. If you actually read every word of this post, you might get an extra entry, too. Thanks for sticking with me. Make sure to visit Raspberry Baby! And don’t forget to check out the rest of the Bloggy Giveaways, including my Day 1 giveaway–Snow White and Grumpy pendants!

    My babywearing story……..
I didn’t even know about babywearing for my first 3 kids. The agony that would have saved me!
Then I tried several slings with my 4th and 5th babes, and I just couldn’t do it. They didn’t fit right and I didn’t know there were other choices.
But then, I had a long break, the internet got HUGE and I learned. With baby #6 I scored on a sling! But with baby #7 I get hooked on babywearing and love slings and wraps. I don’t know how I made it through the first 5 kids without one.

Now I want give wraps and slings away for baby gifts.

I was not a ‘babywearer’ either until my second came along–and trying to fish all the little grocery items that have rolled under his infant carrier has made me a convert! My problem is that my pouch sling is not the most comfortable for my 17+ lbs 4 month old who doesn’t have the greatest upper body control yet. I’d love to try a ring sling.

Babywearing story–I took Baby #1 to a large consignment sale. Decided to carry her in a Moby Style wrap so my hands would be free. She liked it, seemed to be doing fine, but got a little squirmy. And then something dripped onto my (flip flop wearing) foot. It was POOP! My sweet little girl had pooped, and because she was upright in the wrap, it went out of the top of her pants, somehow between the bizillion wrap layers, and onto the floor. It was disgusting! and embarrassing! and yet now, totally funny when I tell it.

I tried using a Baby Bjorn with my daughter but I didn’t like the way she sat and I heard it wasn’t good for her to be in it for more than 20 minutes. So now that I am pregnant with my second baby, I would love to try a sling because I too don’t know how I’m going to manage the grocery store with two kids.

I had a sling with my last baby, but it wasn’t very comfortable and it was not adjustable. I did love wearing it though, but as the baby grew it I just gave up. We are adopting a newborn little girl and would love to have this.

Ummmm, I think my ten month old has sat in a shopping cart… two, maybe three times in his life. I wear him EVERYWHERE and I love it. I’ve had people come across parking lots to ask me where I got my sling. It’s amazing the comments you get. I love the colours of the one you are offering and would love to use it!

When I had my first two babies…16 years and 12 years ago respectively, I had never heard of baby wearing or seen a sling. Now, I am 41 years old and expecting a little guy at the beginning of March. I would really like a second (third?) chance to give baby wearing a try, as I have heard nothing but wonderful things about it. I had someone who was going to send me one of their slings to use, but a week ago I learned that their sling is going to be “busy” again. I would love to be chosen to win this sling. Thanks so much for the giveaway.

I LOVE to wear my kiddos! With my son (who is now almost 3) I just had a front carrier. When i had my second (3.5 month old little girl), I got a hand me down wrap from a friend. I love it! I can hold her and still have my hands free for the older one! But, this will be much more useful as she grows.

I bought my sling when I was expecting Ladybug. I had no idea that this would be the BEST $35 investment that I’ve ever made! I still use the sling and she is 20 months old. I also have a mei tai, but for quick in/outs, the sling is best. Ladybug loves it. We use it every Sunday morning at church so I can help lead worship with LB on my hip. I love me sling and would love to have one for my sister who is expecting in May!

My baby wearing days are over but I’d love to win this for my niece who is expecting. The geometry pattern on their site is gorgeous. I’ll also tell you a baby wearing story: when DD was little and loved her maya wrap we’d walk the neighborhood with her every day. One day the sweet lady across the street had to stop us just to tell me that she couldn’t believe the “new fangled” things moms used these days. I bit my tongue and didn’t tell her that women had been slinging baby since time began. lol. Just assured her that DD loved it and had never fallen out. DS loved it too when his turn came.

I would love one of these! My daughter doesn’t really wear her baby b/c no one does it here, but when we babysit I would love to wear her! Sometimes I think it would be great just to be able to get the dishes done when Princess Madysen wants to be held. lol. A sling would come in so very handy.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
