When my little pirate, Asa was born (4 months ago!) the main thing I was worried about was NOT the late night feedings. It was NOT the crying. Not even the diapers. It was HOW IN THE WORLD WILL I TAKE TWO KIDS TO THE GROCERY STORE?!
I just couldn’t imagine taking a newborn and an almost 3 year old into a store and getting them both in a grocery cart. I went through every scenario: baby in carrier in front of cart while 3 year old runs around the store OR baby in carrier in the back of cart with 3 year old in front of cart—but where would the groceries go? Finally I realized, I need a sling!
I’m not a “babywearer” but knew having two kids I was going to need a sling to help me out! Well, I hit all the sites I could think of and then finally made my way to etsy. (Why didn’t I go there first?) I stumbled upon Raspberry Baby and I think the name might have hooked me. Or maybe it was the fabrics.
I couldn’t decide between all her cute patterns so I settled on the edgy gray ring sling. It goes with everything and I thought maaaayyybeeee my hubby might wear it. (He hasn’t.)
And the main thing I like is the way she suggests wearing it…with the tail wrapped around your back and tucked under the baby’s bottom. It adds some more support AND it looks super cute.
Anyway, in honor of my pirate, my new life as a sahm to two, the bloggy giveaways, my new favorite thing and uh…the month of January, I asked Raspberry Baby if they’d like to give away a sling. AND THEY SAID YES. (That would have been pretty anti-climactic if they’d said no, huh?)
And not just any sling. They are giving away this ADORABLE “Inspired” sling in black and aqua.
DO YOU LOVE IT?!
It sells for $35 and YOU COULD GET IT FOR FREE!
Now, here’s the deal. I get a little antsy (and irritated) at the contests that make you do 50 thousand things to enter. But I really want to honor Raspberry Baby for their generosity, so I’d love for you to visit their site to see all their other cute stuff (like this! or oh, I wish I had this when I was preggo! or omg, do I need this!). So here’s the deal…
YOU MUST:
Leave me a comment. If you tell me your babywearing story, I just might be tempted to pick you instead of ramdom-ing a winner. If you compliment me, I really might pick you.
FOR TWO MORE ENTRIES:
Visit Raspberry Baby and look around. Come back here and let me know what caught your eye. (They also sell pouches, wraps and other cute mama-baby stuff!)
FOR THREE MORE ENTRIES:
Tweet this contest OR Stumble this post OR link to this post on your blog OR subscribe to my blog OR get my blog in your inbox OR write a 400 page essay on what OhAmanda means to you.
POTENTIALLY you could be entered 21 times. Am I insane?! Do you know how long this will take me to calcualte?! *whew*
Anyway, if you do any more of this stuff, just leave me an additional comment for each…just one comment is ok, unless you want to be like Dana from Are We There Yet and do my work for me (see below). Which of course, I love. And did I mention I love Dana? Well, I do. A lot. OK, back to the “rules”…yes, all you old current subscribers—leave me an extra comment and you’ll qualify for the extra subscriber entries.
OK. If you actually read every word of this post, you might get an extra entry, too. Thanks for sticking with me. Make sure to visit Raspberry Baby! And don’t forget to check out the rest of the Bloggy Giveaways, including my Day 1 giveaway–Snow White and Grumpy pendants!

I’m expecting my second in March and really want to get a sling of some kind. I didn’t have one with my first. It’s all so overwhelming though. There are so many choices. I love the Raspberry Baby shop! Their prices are good too. If I ever decide what kind to buy, I will keep them at the front of the line. The one you have to giveaway is lovely! Your blog is pretty too. Thanks for the chance to win!

We adopted our daughter from foster care when she was 8 months old and my friend from high school sent us a Mei Tai Carrier. It was awesome! It allowed us to be so close and really bond like we would have done had I carried her in my belly. I loved it.
And we’re about to start the process again so I NEED another carrier!
Nicole says
I love their site! I think my favorite part is the awesome prices! I’ve seen these slings selling for over $100!

My story is like yours – the second kiddo made me realize that a sling was a MUST. If I won this I’d give it to a friend of mine who is due to have her FIFTH on Feb 9. She’s ready to try the sling at this point. LOL.
Joy says
I didn’t use a sling for baby #1, although I highly considered it. But now that #2 is on the way, I keep thinking of instances where I’m really, really going to need one!!
Jennifer Muth says
The maternity skirts caught my eye! cute!!
Candice says
I have a 5 1/2 year old that insists on sitting in the cart and a 20 month that insists being in the mei tai when we go out. Working on baby #3! The ring sling is really nice!

I’m done with babies, but my friend is having one in August! I think she’d love this. And actually, I can kind of see her hubby giving it a try. I think he’d be all about it.
Sarah at themommylogues says
I could really use the herbal neck wrap. Pretty much every day!
Sarah at themommylogues says
I totally want to get my friend the Ultimate Man Hold sling!!! I can see it. He might actually have the baby quite a bit while his wife teaches.

I don’t remember how or when I discovered babywearing but it was about 2 years ago when my youngest niece was born. I really wanted a sling but knew nobody who carried their babies this way. I researched online and found a pattern to make your own pouch. I tried that first because I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something I wasn’t sure about. Since then I have tried several other carriers and love them. I couldn’t live without some sort of sling and now encourage other moms to give mine a try.

I like the modern charcoal and the edgy gray

baby wearing story…I had a sling…ummm a very ugly sling and I had Tay in it at the dog park when she was about 6 months old and I had a lady come up to me and told me she had a much smaller and easier to use sling (I think she meant prettier!) that I could have…talk about random! She even drove to her house to go get it for me, she wanted me to have it that bad! My sling must have been awful!
Mickymar says
I at this point in my life am in no need for this wonderful item, however this looks a whole lot more comfortable than the one I bought twenty years ago, that didnt fit me or my lil one! I know the winner will appreciate such a gift.

I am a babywearer and I love it! My son is getting a little big so I guess I need a new baby?! haha
Babywearing story: I was walking back from a friends house, holding on to my daughter’s hand and wearing my then 11 month old son. My daughter decided to book it.. me trying to get her to stop {which I did} completely forgot about gigantic hole in the grass! I fell right in, baby and all. Luckily, I was wearing him cause I came down with a bang Hurting my wrist and Twisting my ankle. My son just laughed at me.
Oh, I was also fortunate enough to have witnesses! Yippee.
Count me in!
Ebie says
i’m in the same boat, just had #2 in dec, and vowed i would not go w/o a sling. i use my 2ndhand sling to walk w/ my older child in the stroller, but it doesn’t really have a back support, so that part appeals to me!
Kaitlin says
Okay, phew. Here I go. First of all, I love that pattern! It’s awesome. And I can see my sister-in-law loving it too, if I manage to win this for her. Further comments coming up!

And finally, for “what I like” entry #2, I like the Inspired Nursing Cover in black and aqua because I’d like to think I’m going to win this sling, and I’d love to buy the nursing cover to make it a set.

These are adorable. I never used one with my first (he’s 21 months now) but with baby #2 rapidly approaching (due in March) I just KNOW a sling is something i’ve got to try. I’ll need to free up my hands for monster #1. 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway!!

I never wore my 1st kid and he has never been very snuggly. I’m hoping that with #2 I’ll be able to wear a sling and still chase after my other little guy 🙂 I think that is great that you are supporting this cute Etsy shop!

The Herbal Heat bag caught my eye! It’s not only super cute, but would be so luxurious!

I subscribed to your feed! And read every word of your post 🙂

With my first child I just happened to stumble upon a ring sling and try it out…it was so much better than the Bjorn carrier I had been given (and that he had almost outgrown at 3 months) that I ended up buying it and using it till he was almost 3. It was well used and worn when I retired it. Now that I am expecting again I am on the look out for a replacement. This would be great to win!

I’ve never tried a sling but would love to…thinking with a second child it would help a lot, as you brilliantly said 😉
Leanne says
I could definitely use a shoulder heat wrap…that’s not just for preggos!
Christina says
I used a New Native with my second child and it was great, but only lasted until she was about three months old and then it didn’t work as well. I would love to try a ring sling this time around.
Christina says
I like her Modern flirt skirt.

1. My babywearing story is that I have worn my DD since day one. She is now almost 2 and I still wear her frequently. In the early days I had recieved a baby born as a gift and used it all the time, as she got bigger I used a backpack carrier. Then about a year ago, I switched to a moby wrap. I heart the moby wrap. I didn’t have the money at the time to buy one, so I went to the local fabric store, picked up some fabric and made my own. How much I would love a new baby carrier. As DH and I start talking about having #2, what baby carrier, I am going to get and scoping them out has been on my mind. LOL.
2. I checked out the website and I am digging the squash blossom – retro sling very pretty and gender neutral.
3. I subscribed to the blog.
Thanks for the great giveaway

I had high hopes to babywear my firstborn, but I guess I got overwhelmed as a mom and never followed through…Well, here comes baby #2 any day now, so I’d better start trying now that I have a second chance! Otherwise, you’re right, how can I take two kids to the market?
Colleen says
Oh, I love her maternity clothes, especially the Modern Corduroy Maternity Skirt in ash. I’ve added her to my etsy faves!

I loved my front pack carrier for carrying my kids when they were infants. My first I carried everywhere. I even figured out how to nurse him without taking him out. Made life a lot easier! I’d love to win one of these for my sister!
Jennifer says
I checked out the Rasberry Baby site… I really like the maternity skirts. She has a lot of really nice stuff. By the way I had the same problem when I first had two- a 20month old and a new born. Didn’t buy many groceries for the first few weeks because there was no room in the cart! It was the middle of winter so I didn’t want to take the baby out of the nice warm carrier!
Krista says
I read the whole post word for word… does that get me an extra entry? Oh, and your design is Soooo cute. 😉 See, I’m complimenting you!
Krista says
Okay, so my story is that I had a Snuggli (gift), but I didn’t really like it for my newborn. I really wanted a sling, but couldn’t afford it. So I tried to make my own… it worked, sort of! But I don’t think I got it quite right, I think my fabric was way too wide. anyway, my son quickly outgrew the Snuggli and eventually I was able to buy an Ergo on sale. I must say that it’s really convenient to be wearing your baby (or 2 year old!) when you’re trying to go through an airport and keep track of all your stuff. So nice not to have to keep track of them too! Especially when flying alone!
Krista says
Seriously diggin’ the Modern Twigs nursing cover! See also: tried to go the cheap route and buy one from a lady on Craigslist… the neckline did NOT stay open. This one I probably would have been better off making myself!
Krista says
2nd entry for visiting her site! Thanks!

This is so adorable. This would be for my soon to be new niece.
You soooo pretty today!!! 🙂

I love the Vintage-Style Chic Ribbon Tag Blankie, and I LOVE YOU for doing this giveaway!
I tried “wearing” my baby when she was brand new, but we just couldn’t get the hang of it in the carrier we had. i gave that carrier away (dang it), but I am definitely read to try it again, with her sitting up in on my hip, instead of being down inside.
ash says
Your website is wonderful.
Worst thing ever is wearing one of the slings and having your child throw up and they are facing you. most of it gets caught in the sling though- makes for easy cleaning!
Kristi says
The sling I used for my little girl wasn’t near this cute or comfortable. I’m expecting in May and would love to try this sling since I’ve heard such great things about it. Thanks!

I am a little obsessed with these slings in all the amazing different fabric choices – and especially the ring sling with the zipper pocket in front – how smart! After a traumatic miscarriage last year, I was lucky to get pregnant again and am expecting a baby in about 5 weeks… I would love to be able to wear this little miracle in such a cute way! THANK YOU!

This is an awesome etsy shop. After 2 bouts with cancer, my husband and I can’t have biological children so we are adopting. We are just waiting for the big call now. I can’t wait to be a proud “babywearer”. Thanks so much for this opportunity to win such a great gift.
