Bloggy Giveaway Day 2: Raspberry Baby Sling

this giveaway is closed. *sniff* winner will be announced monetarily…but please, feel free to read on…

When my little pirate, Asa was born (4 months ago!) the main thing I was worried about was NOT the late night feedings. It was NOT the crying. Not even the diapers. It was HOW IN THE WORLD WILL I TAKE TWO KIDS TO THE GROCERY STORE?!

I just couldn’t imagine taking a newborn and an almost 3 year old into a store and getting them both in a grocery cart. I went through every scenario: baby in carrier in front of cart while 3 year old runs around the store OR baby in carrier in the back of cart with 3 year old in front of cart—but where would the groceries go? Finally I realized, I need a sling!

I’m not a “babywearer” but knew having two kids I was going to need a sling to help me out! Well, I hit all the sites I could think of and then finally made my way to etsy. (Why didn’t I go there first?) I stumbled upon Raspberry Baby and I think the name might have hooked me. Or maybe it was the fabrics.

i have a nursing shawl in this pattern. yummy.

I couldn’t decide between all her cute patterns so I settled on the edgy gray ring sling. It goes with everything and I thought maaaayyybeeee my hubby might wear it. (He hasn’t.)

And the main thing I like is the way she suggests wearing it…with the tail wrapped around your back and tucked under the baby’s bottom. It adds some more support AND it looks super cute.

sporty, no?

Anyway, in honor of my pirate, my new life as a sahm to two, the bloggy giveaways, my new favorite thing and uh…the month of January, I asked Raspberry Baby if they’d like to give away a sling. AND THEY SAID YES. (That would have been pretty anti-climactic if they’d said no, huh?)

And not just any sling. They are giving away this ADORABLE “Inspired” sling in black and aqua.

DO YOU LOVE IT?!

It sells for $35 and YOU COULD GET IT FOR FREE!

Now, here’s the deal. I get a little antsy (and irritated) at the contests that make you do 50 thousand things to enter. But I really want to honor Raspberry Baby for their generosity, so I’d love for you to visit their site to see all their other cute stuff (like this! or oh, I wish I had this when I was preggo! or omg, do I need this!). So here’s the deal…

wrapped around the back. so sleek!

YOU MUST:
Leave me a comment. If you tell me your babywearing story, I just might be tempted to pick you instead of ramdom-ing a winner. If you compliment me, I really might pick you.

FOR TWO MORE ENTRIES:
Visit Raspberry Baby and look around. Come back here and let me know what caught your eye. (They also sell pouches, wraps and other cute mama-baby stuff!)

FOR THREE MORE ENTRIES:
Tweet this contest OR Stumble this post OR link to this post on your blog OR subscribe to my blog OR get my blog in your inbox OR write a 400 page essay on what OhAmanda means to you.

POTENTIALLY you could be entered 21 times. Am I insane?! Do you know how long this will take me to calcualte?! *whew*

Anyway, if you do any more of this stuff, just leave me an additional comment for each…just one comment is ok, unless you want to be like Dana from Are We There Yet and do my work for me (see below). Which of course, I love. And did I mention I love Dana? Well, I do. A lot. OK, back to the “rules”…yes, all you old current subscribers—leave me an extra comment and you’ll qualify for the extra subscriber entries.

OK. If you actually read every word of this post, you might get an extra entry, too. Thanks for sticking with me. Make sure to visit Raspberry Baby! And don’t forget to check out the rest of the Bloggy Giveaways, including my Day 1 giveaway–Snow White and Grumpy pendants!

Final entry on adding you to my Google Reader. MAN! I had to work for this one! I should be this diligent with my dusting. But dusting’s not fun and there’s NEVER a giveaway.

I LOVE wearing my babies (baby #1 is a big guy now, but #2 is only 6 months). A few months ago, I was preparing freezer dinners (like OAMC) with some friends and I was wearing him in a pouch sling, and he totally fell asleep. I love slings. I’d love to win one of these. The fabrics are gorgeous.
    thanks for the giveaway!

I was JUST talking to my boss about how I would love a sling for Ben when he gets here. I visited the website and really like the black modern tube sling. It’s easy and simple (my kind of style).

i tried the baby wearing thing with my toddler when she was little, but too many explosive diarrhea episodes deterred me…(seriously it was a baby bjorn type carrier, and all the poop was forced up and out.. gag) we’re trying for another one, so i think trying a different type of sling is in order. i heart the koto sling a lot. it’s such a cool pattern, and i’m all for drawing attention to baby wearing.

I love slings when we go out in public and with having four kids it allows my hands to be free to hold hands if needed or push the stroller!! Thanks so much for the chance!!

What a great contest! I didn’t know much about babywearing when Fly was born, and we got into it pretty late. I made a ring sling, which I thought he hated, but it was only because I hadn’t learned he liked to be held upright instead of in a cradle position. He did great in a pouch sling I bought, though.

I sure am going to make greater use of a sling when my second baby arrives in June! I don’t know what I would do without one, actually.

I am so right there with you, as far as the babywearing goes. I didn’t wear my first child at all, save for a few trips in a bjorn carrier. But when I realized I’d have two under two going to the grocery store with me, I needed another option. I love my moby wrap, and use it almost every day — even when not running errands. But I didn’t realize how much I loved it until I forgot it on my weekly grocery trip. Do you KNOW how hard it is to figure out a workable solution? It was actually a nearly impossible situation! Yuck!

  21. Stacy says

    January 27, 2009 at 7:52 pm

With my first daughter, I had never heard of all the different babywearing options! When she was about 6 months old, I discovered the Mei Tai carrier, which I loved. With my 2nd daughter due in 3 weeks, a sling would be awesome! They have a lot of cute fabrics on their site too!

  22. LaVonne says

    January 27, 2009 at 10:15 pm

I have a moby wrap, maya sling, and peanut shell. I love them all, the peanut shell the best right now. I have loved being able to wear my baby at stores, when she gets fussy in the cart this really works. I want to win this for my SIL who just had a boy so she can wear him too. You are so kind and generous to be giving this away. thank you so much.

I am pregnant with number two right now. I never had a sling for my son, but he’s only 17 months old right now.

I AM going to “wear” this baby a lot because it will make my life easier! There is no way I’ll be able to keep two kids in a stroller and be good! I think this will just help out so much and i wish that I had a sling with my first!

AND…I’m totally loving your header! 🙂

    Thanks for the chance!

  26. Dee says

    January 27, 2009 at 10:55 pm

ok so I leave TWO more comments for things I like on the site right?

Well she has tons of cute stuff..so that was easy!

DO I need to keep going with some compliments?

  29. Katie K says

    January 27, 2009 at 11:20 pm

I have one daughter and I didn’t do much baby wearing with her. I tired the jeep carrier (given to me from an uncle..being thrifty), then tried another evenflo hip carrier, this one was okay, but got lost on a trip to the beach (still think it could be in the husbands car.) finally I decided I wanted a baby sling. Alayna was already on the larger size and I worried I wouldn’t use it. I am so bummed i never got to try it. So when we have our next IVF miracle i plan to get one right away if i don’t win this one. As for the compliment I think 21 entries is pure chaos..i love it, my kind of girl!

One time I was carrying another woman’s kid on my hip (this probably makes it worse)and I accidentally smacked her head into a cupboard door. GAH! I have never felt worse. After candy and much sympathy talking, the toddler calmed down, and hopefully her mother will never know.

But, YOU would never do that, of course! You’re the best mom in the history of ever!!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE the rustic sling in spice. I don’t think it’s too girly for the hubs either.

I was a big sling skeptic when I was pregnant. I thought it was a little too “mother earth” for me, if you know what I mean? But now that L is here, I couldn’t do without one, unless I manage to grow and extra arm soon. It helps to have really cute and user friendly ones at raspberry baby!! So PICK ME ALREADY!!!

When my son was 2 weeks old, my husband and I took him and his just-turned-two year old sister to a Wiggles concert. He rode in the sling the whole time and slept through most of the concert in the sling. He woke up to nurse once and that was it!

I’ve also worn #3 a lot. She’s been to the zoo 4 times and to museums. It’s so much nicer than sticker her in a stroller because she’s content the whole time since I’m keeping her close to me!

I forgot to say I love the pretty bibs they have at Raspberry Baby. I hearted their shop (sentimentaljourney).

My 15 month old rarely stopped screaming for the first 9 months of his life. He had bad acid reflux, and medication didin’t really seem to help. The only thing that really helped him was being upright, and since I needed to have my hands free sometimes, a sling really helped. I didn’t even have one… I never used one with my older daughter. But, my sister in law came to the rescue and loaned me one which was a lifesaver.

Okay, here’s my baby wearing story… I wasn’t really sure what all the hype was about, but I went ahead and got a pouch-style sling with my first. I used it a lot for walks and whatever. THEN, I found out how great baby wearing is when I figured out how to nurse and cook dinner simultaneously with the sling. Perfect for those time crunches when every member of the family was hungry! I’d love to try this sling, too.

but thanks for offering this. I appreciate it a lot and will come back to check out your blog again after the contests!

Thanks for understanding that 50,000 requirements is too many… 🙂

I love slings, but I don’t like the one I have right now. It was fine when my baby was a newborn, but we need something a little different now. The slings at Raspberry Baby are so affordable! I love it. My favorite I think would be the New Stone Sling. It looks just like what I want.

I don’t have a baby wearing story, ’cause I don’t have a sling, but if I did, I’d have my hands free and I’d be so happy!!
I really like the Earthy Floral Batik Sling.
