When my little pirate, Asa was born (4 months ago!) the main thing I was worried about was NOT the late night feedings. It was NOT the crying. Not even the diapers. It was HOW IN THE WORLD WILL I TAKE TWO KIDS TO THE GROCERY STORE?!
I just couldn’t imagine taking a newborn and an almost 3 year old into a store and getting them both in a grocery cart. I went through every scenario: baby in carrier in front of cart while 3 year old runs around the store OR baby in carrier in the back of cart with 3 year old in front of cart—but where would the groceries go? Finally I realized, I need a sling!
I’m not a “babywearer” but knew having two kids I was going to need a sling to help me out! Well, I hit all the sites I could think of and then finally made my way to etsy. (Why didn’t I go there first?) I stumbled upon Raspberry Baby and I think the name might have hooked me. Or maybe it was the fabrics.

I couldn’t decide between all her cute patterns so I settled on the edgy gray ring sling. It goes with everything and I thought maaaayyybeeee my hubby might wear it. (He hasn’t.)
And the main thing I like is the way she suggests wearing it…with the tail wrapped around your back and tucked under the baby’s bottom. It adds some more support AND it looks super cute.

Anyway, in honor of my pirate, my new life as a sahm to two, the bloggy giveaways, my new favorite thing and uh…the month of January, I asked Raspberry Baby if they’d like to give away a sling. AND THEY SAID YES. (That would have been pretty anti-climactic if they’d said no, huh?)
And not just any sling. They are giving away this ADORABLE “Inspired” sling in black and aqua.
DO YOU LOVE IT?!
It sells for $35 and YOU COULD GET IT FOR FREE!
Now, here’s the deal. I get a little antsy (and irritated) at the contests that make you do 50 thousand things to enter. But I really want to honor Raspberry Baby for their generosity, so I’d love for you to visit their site to see all their other cute stuff (like this! or oh, I wish I had this when I was preggo! or omg, do I need this!). So here’s the deal…
YOU MUST:
Leave me a comment. If you tell me your babywearing story, I just might be tempted to pick you instead of ramdom-ing a winner. If you compliment me, I really might pick you.
FOR TWO MORE ENTRIES:
Visit Raspberry Baby and look around. Come back here and let me know what caught your eye. (They also sell pouches, wraps and other cute mama-baby stuff!)
FOR THREE MORE ENTRIES:
Tweet this contest OR Stumble this post OR link to this post on your blog OR subscribe to my blog OR get my blog in your inbox OR write a 400 page essay on what OhAmanda means to you.
POTENTIALLY you could be entered 21 times. Am I insane?! Do you know how long this will take me to calcualte?! *whew*
Anyway, if you do any more of this stuff, just leave me an additional comment for each…just one comment is ok, unless you want to be like Dana from Are We There Yet and do my work for me (see below). Which of course, I love. And did I mention I love Dana? Well, I do. A lot. OK, back to the “rules”…yes, all you old current subscribers—leave me an extra comment and you’ll qualify for the extra subscriber entries.
OK. If you actually read every word of this post, you might get an extra entry, too. Thanks for sticking with me. Make sure to visit Raspberry Baby! And don’t forget to check out the rest of the Bloggy Giveaways, including my Day 1 giveaway–Snow White and Grumpy pendants!

The Flirt skirt is really cute!
Posted a blurb on my blog…

I definitely want to be a babywearing mama because I NEED TWO HANDS. I have two hands for a reason and one of them is not hefting a child while I struggle to manage the vacuum, the groceries, my NotACoffee (any drink that is meant to pacify my caffeine cravings and never really succeeds) and all the other things I need to do! Wrap ’em up and let’s roll, I say. 🙂
Subscribed 😀
Entry Numbah Two! I visited Raspberry Baby’s Etsy shop and oh, man that stuff is nice. I’m a big fan of handmade and while I would love to have the talent to make it myself… I don’t. I adored the Maternity Flirt skirt with the red batik and stretchy waist. And the French Tip duo in Lime bib and burp cloth are stylish and sweet! Very nice stuff!
Oh Man! I’ve been shopping for ring slings all month! I’ve got a coworker who’s expecting and I just know she’d love these beautiful fabrics.
And my favorite sling on their website is the Woven Baby Sling in Natural Stripes. Those colors are gorgeous!! I guess I could bear to part with it for the sake of my coworker and her baby. Maybe.
I know that I have a few stories that I could share, but one sticks out in my mind right now. I had my 3 month old in my pouch sling while shopping at a local nursery (plant/gardening nursery! thought I should clarify! haha). It was very busy…there were a ton of people there. I got a few comments about the sling from some moms and grandmothers. Babywearing isn’t a huge trend here, so people had some questions. I love spreading the word, so I was happy to answer them. Anyway, as I was picking out plants and flowers, I started to fill up my flat that I was carrying. My son was asleep in the sling and I started placing a few of the flower containers in the sling (yes, on my sleeping son!) because I was out of room in the flat. Don’t worry, they were lightweight and clean! 🙂 As I was walking to checkout, a man looked at me and nodded his head and said, “That is pretty handy. A bag that keeps your hands free. Where’d ya get it?” He didn’t even notice my sleeping son tucked in the sling amongst the flowers. Like I said, babywearing isn’t something you see every day in my town! 🙂 I like to wear my son so I can help spread the word to other moms. My sling was a hand me down from a friend. Before her, I didn’t even really know about babywearing. It has been a LIFESAVER, especially when my son was a newborn. I’ve never used a ring sling because I wasn’t sure that I could figure it out, but I’d love to give it a shot and pass my pocket sling on to my friend who is expecting in July!!
I love this Etsy store! So many wonderful items! Love the tag blankets. Definitely bookmarking this for the future!
Entry numbah THREE! I’m your very first Stumbler (I think?) as I had to add the site to StumbleUpon 🙂 You’re in, baby! Top of my list at
http://e-island.stumbleupon.com/
Ok Entry numbah four? Does this really count or are you telling stories? I totally read every word of your post. Several times. Carefully. With extra picture-looking! 😀 Plus checked out the Oh Me section (you are one hardcore blogger!) and some older posts (holy Snow White birthday party! I wish I were that organized :O) I’ve bookmarked you too for future viewing! Totally inspiring.
Oh, and I read every. single. word.
🙂
AND I subscribed!
I love your blog and so glad I happened to find it! It is now in my “read daily” section.
I need a sling! I never wore Cami because I never needed to, and frankly, anything with that much fabric confuses me. 🙂 However, with baby boy on the way, I can’t see a grocery store/mall trip without one. I admit, even if I don’t win, I will probably still go buy one from Raspberry Baby! And honestly, I think this paragraph has the most commas I’ve ever seen!
Babywearing story:
Had a Bjorn. Bug hated it. Had a pouch. Bug tolerated it. Have my arms/hip. Back hates me.
Oh, btw, you’re really pretty. And smart. And funny. And your kids are cute. And your dh is handsome.
my sister in law is due mid-March and she would LOVE that sling. The pattern show is perfect for her. I love all of the things available in the store too. I’m going to pass on the website to her.
I forgot to say that the chocolate floral sling that’s in your post is my favorite, so rather than totally mess up the process, this is the comment where I tell you that I’m tweeting the contest!
Oh, and I subscribe.
I would love to win this sling! I love the one in your post. I went to the site and they are very affordable. I will definitely be back at her site very soon. I subscribe to your blog through Google reader and read every word. You’re kids are so cute and the Snow White party you just gave was very creative!

My babywearing story: I was walking through Target, shopping along blissfully unaware that my 9-month-old had decided to lift the flap of my nursing top. I didn’t realize until I looked down that the flapping and beating on my chest was her trying to unhook the flap on my bra. Yes, I am living proof that one cannot, in fact, die of embarrassment.
The Raspberry Baby site is SO COOL! How have I not found this before? I may order the Inspired Nursing Cover. I may also need to wear it all the time (see story above).
I just tweeted my desire to win this contest, and I stumbled this post. I subscribed by email (you’re already in my google reader). My 400-word essay is on my blog, so come on over!
In case it’s not obvious, I’d really, really, really love to win this sling. Also, all this tickety-typing is making me look productive, so, even if I don’t win, I’ve avoided actual work for…lemme see…a good 20 minutes!
Here’s the link to my blog post:

Well I dont have any babywearing stories since I haven’t started babywearing yet! I do think the Maternity Modern Flirt Skirt is adorable! Thanks for entering me!
I am not a full time baby wearer, but like you, I think that there are definitely times that call for it! I got a pouch with my second, and she liked it, but my third (now 2 months old) HATES is. I think she is taller, so she doesn’t fit well. I was thinking about getting a sling to try out as it’s more flexible, and maybe she would like it better.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I really like the corduroy maternity skirt, wish I had had that, as I had a hard time finding nice skirts!
Wow what a great giveaway. I love wearing my son and that is cute cute cute!
We have tried MT’s and a pouch sling and he loves to be worn.
Their burp cloths are sooo cute. I love all the prints they offer.
Well, I would LOVE to win this sling and give it to somebody — maybe my friend who just emergency-adopted twin babies and is now surprise pregnant with what will now be their 7th child (the oldest is 15)…
I looked at their shop and wanted to buy one of the super-cute nursing covers for my sister…except she doesn’t need it quite so much now. If only I’d seen this three months ago!
And, I’m a subscriber.
Oh, and a story! I had my infant nephew in a moby at Costco once, and he was sleeping, tucked inside, and SO many people were interested. One of the older ladies doing the samples had to peek in and then commented “well, that’s something new, isn’t it?!” I guess they didn’t have mobys when she was carrying babies…
i had only used an ergo carrier with my son before my last baby was born. someone gave me a sling and i’ve carried her in walmart a few times. one time i was nursing. everyone is always curious when you have a baby in a sling. so many people tried to pull the sling back and take a peak. i had to keep my hands on it.
the chocolate floral sling is so cute on their site. i don’t have a ring sling.
So… here’s my babywearing story and it all has to do with me being cheap…or is thrifty the nicer way to say it? All the slings I was finding were sooo expensive! So, I asked my mother-in-law to make me one. Hooray for free!) The problem was that I had her make a pocket sling that my little daughter has always hated. I got a Moby wrap as a gift which I love, but it’s a pain to wrap up sometimes and can get hot. I really want to try a ringsling because I think it will be perfect: quick and easy, cool, super cute, and if I win this contest…free! If not, I will actually be tempted to buy one cause they are way more affordable than anywhere else I have seen.
Also: your post cracked me up! Don’t know you but kinda wish I did. I think I might laugh a little more… I think I’ll subscribe!
I checked out the Raspberry Baby site, and I love the bibs! I was just complaining that my daughter drools like crazy and all the retail bibs are ugly bright ones with some cartoon puppy on the front. my little one is 5 months old, she doesn’t care what she’s wearing, so why not make it stylish for my own personal taste!
also… I did add your blog to my google reader 🙂
I’ve never worn a baby before, most likely due to the fact that I don’t have one yet. However, that is going to change in approximately 30 days when little Nathanael will arrive in this world. I’d love to be able to wear him when I go shopping, etc. It seems that slings are so comfortable and I’d love to try this one out!

I just re-read the rules, so here’s my entry commemorating my visit to Raspberry baby. I’m digging the nursing covers. SO cute, and maybe my boy wouldn’t fling it across the room.
Here’s another entry for visiting Raspberry Baby.
I tweeted!

Ha! I remember feeling the same way about the grocery store when I had my second…now I’m onto my third and really starting to freak out! New plan – hubby does the shopping! (Or, of course you pick me to be the winner and I can continue to shop and look SUPER CUTE – eh, what da ya say?).
This really is a great giveaway – and for the compliment (totally sincere) you are hilarious (you know that though, don’t you?)!
Found you through problogger – yep, through a comment you left. Nice to “meet” you! 🙂

3rd time on the blog post. I’m beginning to feel a teensy bit ridiculous.
The blog post IS my 400-word essay. Surely you don’t want that in your comments, right?
