Several months ago we met Yancy and her family in downtown Atlanta to visit the World of Coke. I have no idea why we picked that place but after we sampled every kind of Coke product imaginable (and I was reminded why I don’t drink soft drinks), we hung out in the parking garage chatting. Yancy turned on her van and let me hear some new music she was working on. She said it started off as lullabyes for her son, Sparrow. But after sharing the music with others she felt like it might have a broader appeal.
As I listened to the music, I felt like jumping up and down! The words to the songs are the exact kinds of prayers I was writing for Praying God’s Word for Your Kids! I told her, “Moms are going to love this! This is exactly the kind of thing every mother wants to sing over her children–and have their children sing for themselves!”
These songs have released today on an album called Roots for the Journey. They are a far from rock-a-bye-baby and settle somewhere between Seeds Family Worship and chill modern rock. Turning this music on brings an immediate blanket of peace into your house. I am sitting here listen to the CD now trying to decide which one is my favorite but I can’t decide. Here’s a few of my favorite lyrics…
Seriously. How could I pick just one? I love every bit of it! Roots for the Journey is a perfect CD for every family–a gift for new mamas, a peaceful retreat for moms who need to be reminded of their high calling and a plumb line for kids who want to follow Jesus.
Here’s a video of the song Safe, to whet your appetite…

Her website says there is a companion app for this album – do you know if that is available only if the album is purchased on her site? Or is it accessible with the amazon download?
Also, are your lyric graphics available to copy/print? Thanks for introducing us to this great music!!
The app isn’t ready yet. But WAIT till you see it! It’s got SO MUCH good stuff to go along with the album!
The graphics: I made them. You could copy them for personal use. But they aren’t very big. Not sure how they’d look. 🙂
