Easter Story & Tree Tradition

Earlier this week we got the most enormous package on our front steps. I was expecting a cute Easter decoration to review for you. I thought it was a little tabletop decoration. Not something that would fit in a four foot tall box.

However, after we wrestled the package inside, it was my new Easter decoration. And it’s not table-top size! It’s really about the same height as Asa. And what is it?

A really cool white tree from It’s Treedition!

The kids were instantly in love with our “easter tree”. It really is very cool looking–and made from a thick rubber (maybe?) that can be easily bent into any direction.

Today we got to do the Easter devotional that goes with the tree. It’s kind of the Resurrection Eggs in ornament form. The Easter Story Eggs are beautiful, thick cardstock with sweet illustrations. Kind of scrapbook-ish without looking like you printed them off on the printer, you know?

The really cool part is that instead of just telling the story, each ornament has a phrase about who Jesus is on the back. These phrases correspond with the devotional book–phrases like He is Worthy, He is Sacrifice, He is Sovereign and He is King of Kings.

We briefly (briefly) went through the phrases and highlighted the story as we hung up the ornaments. The kids had a blast hanging up each ornament and I really liked the focus on Jesus’ person instead of just the facts of the story.

If I had more time, I can see how it would be great to do one ornament each day on the weeks leading up to Easter. The devotions aren’t overly kid-friendly like activities or crafts or anything. But they are very family-friendly with questions and prayers at the end. Even if you didn’t read it straight to the kids, you could use the stories as starting points for conversation.

So, what’s cool about this Treedition Tree is that there are more ornaments for other holidays–Valentine’s Day conversation hearts, St. Patrick’s Day shamrocks and Thanksgiving leaves. There aren’t devotions for each one–but just seeing the little ornaments on the tree gives me all kinds of ideas for how you could use them! (Remember our Thanks & Giving Tree?)

AND HOW COOL WOULD THIS THING BE FOR TRUTH IN THE TINSEL?!!

I know Easter is days away, but this thing is perfect for all year long (and I think it would be pretty to decorate with other stuff besides the enclosed ornaments–maybe flowers? lights?).

Cool, huh? Leave me a comment and let me know what other fun holiday traditions you have in your home!

I received this tree and devotional in order to facilitate a review. Opinions and words mine.

Love the idea!!! What a special tradition to start for families everywhere. The tree is wonderful and the fact you can change out toppings for the tree for Easter, Valentines Day, Christmas, fall leaves etc. makes this a great addition to decorating for the various holidays!!!

I recently got my own Tree and ornaments from Treedition and am so thrilled with it all! LOVE the fact that I get to start this wonderful tradition with my family in using this gorgeous tree (which I have had out since purchasing it before Christmas and will keep out because its just a great addition to my home decor) and the artistically appointed ornaments along with the spiritual applications that are presented in such a creative and personal way! I love that it’s all developed and packaged so that it is super user friendly… which is needed for me ~ one who doesn’t have time to come up with stuff like this on my own! Thank you CiCi McInnis for responding to the Lord’s calling when he gave you these wonderful ideas!

I just have to comment that I LOVE that you have all your Easter books out on the fireplace for ready viewing. Great idea 🙂

We did the Resurrection Eggs this year (and years past). My girls love guessing what’s in each egg!

Welcome!
