SNOW DAY!

snow daymy driveway!!

There is nothing more fun than waking up to a huge beautiful blanket of snow. It doesn’t happen very often in Georgia. We had our very first White Christmas this year and last night it started snowing again. For hours. We must have 6-8″ on our back porch! I think all of Georgia is shut down. I haven’t seen anyone even try to leave our neighborhood. And we certainly aren’t going to poke our noses outside. Well, that is until the kids beg us enough to go make a snowman. (Don’t you think that should be a dad job, while the moms stay inside and make cocoa?)

The way it works in Georgia when it snows (even a dusting, or even just ices) is that you’re stuck. It’s an honest-to-goodness snow day because we aren’t prepared for it. We don’t have snow shovels, snow tires or even a snow gloves! My kids don’t own snow boots or a sled. Snow is usually something we have for a couple hours and is gone until next year. This huge snowy goodness we’ve had this year? Well, it makes me believe in global warming…wait a minute…”warming”? Hmmm…

Anywhoo…today I’ll be putting the final touches on my Top Ten {Tuesday}, cleaning up the Tangled Party (also the theme of my Top Ten!) and hopefully snuggling on the couch to watch Toy Story 3!

And if you’re stuck cuddled up at home today too, would you do me a favor? One of my best blogging buds and long-time contributor on Impress Your Kids, Leigh is a finalist in a HUGE contest on Kraftmaid’s website—like $50,000 huge! Would you click over and vote for her kitchen, “This Is What It’s All About”?

Somehow she didn’t even find out that she was a finalist until a couple of days ago—and other people were already pimping out their kitchens for people to vote. So, she was in 8th place a few days ago. But her friends have been facebooking, emailing and tweeting like crazy and even though the votes don’t update immediately, it’s totally possible that she could really be in the running. HELLO! $50,000!! Anyway, how cool would it be if she won? And we helped her? *shiver*

And while we’re doing internet voting, would you mind throwing a vote Lydia’s way? I went crazy and entered her picture on Disney Jr’s photo contest. Go on, click over and tell me she’s not the cutest. I dare you…

OK. Enough rambling, here’s a few snowy ideas for my Southern friends who are watchin’ the snowflakes fall..

Snow Many Memories {just all my snow memories if you need some rambly reading}

Snow Princess, Indeed {my sweet sweet girl and her first snow!}

Snowflake Party {Lydia’s 2nd birthday party!}

Maple Syrup Snow Candy: A Tutorial {we will be doing this today!}

See you tomorrow for Top Ten {Tuesday}!

    In Snellville here… no one has tried to go down our street either… almost unheard of. 🙂

    Thanks for this post about snow in Georgia! I spent 6 years in the midwest and they constantly make fun of us southerners for not knowing how to deal with the snow … but you’re so right – we NEVER see it like this! I don’t even have clothes that would keep me warm enough to go play in it!

    So I’m with you – I am totally admiring the snow from a distance and cuddling up under a blankie with a cup of coffee to stay warm 🙂

        we do socks, baggies, socks, then shoes! It’s what we did growing up in ATL, too, and it really doesn’t snow enough here in RVA to invest in snowboots, either!

    Oh, I love all the snow! Wish is was snowing here (Florida), but not quite cold enough.
    I voted for Leigh! Tried to vote for Lydia and the site would never load…will try again later. 🙂

    Wow! Look at all that snow. I love it! And so so jealous. I love snow and in our part of Oregon it’s pretty rare. Enjoy your snow day!

    This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
