This is a guest post from my bff and sisterchick, Staci from Simply Staci. Be prepared to be jealous of her creativity…
One of my most favorite things to do is give gifts. Beyond the obligatory birthday and Christmas gifts, I really love those out of the blue gifts.
What I’ve come to realize is that it doesn’t really matter what the gift is, it’s all in the presentation. You can take the simplest gift and with just the right touch, make it look like you went out of your way.
Fill one of these up with colorful candy and top off with a colorful bow. They’re a great little treat to surprise someone at work.
Practical office supplies are good too because now they come in every color or pattern. Wouldn’t this just make your day if it showed up on your desk with a little sign between the clips saying how great you were?!
Another idea I’ve done is spice up the giftcard. For my roommate’s, birthday I made her a little booklet of giftcards to her favorite places that she could use in the course of a day, but I didn’t spend a lot of money on it. I started off with a $5 gift card to Starbucks to start her day off, then a trip to Target to spend $5. After that it’s time for lunch at Moe’s to spend another $5. Finally, I spent a little more money on the last one and made it $10 to one of her favorite clothing stores, H&M.
This idea I thought was so precious. It’s for a one year wedding anniversary. The gift for year one is paper. So write a letter to your spouse and put it in a nice frame. Precious.
I recently stumbled this post and can’t wait to try it for someone. It takes an ordinary cup that you can find with any picture or logo on it and puts a cupcake inside! Go here to read how to make this super cute gift.
Look at what we did: we turned a plastic container, binder clips, gift card, frame and cup into a memorable gift by adding just a simple touch. What ordinary thing have you turned into a great gift?

These are great ideas, Staci! I’m not a gift giver at all (I think it’s because I don’t like to received gifts either….it’s the last on my list of the Five Love Languages). But, I do know that others really enjoy receiving gifts so I’m always on the lookout for meaningful opportunities. I love that you’ve shared these ideas that are so practical yet very thoughtful.
