Blogging, Friends and The Ultimate Blog Party

I’m sitting at my kitchen table while my kids eat breakfast in front of the TV. Yes, I’m one of those. It’s one of my only “me” times during the day. The kids are still a little tired, one is strapped into a high-chair, both are stuffing their faces and I get to write. It’s interesting that my one year old won’t stay still for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Curious George, but pull out Signing Time or Donut Man and he’s enchanted! Anyway, that’s not the point of this post. I know you’re surprised because my posts are always so focused…

This morning as I was deciding which bloggy thing to do first: finish checking out my Top Ten {Tuesday} folks (yeah, it takes me three days), check my email (from all 4 inboxes), click on skype to see if anyone wanted to chat (the LAST thing I need to do), write for Impress Your Kids (didn’t post yesterday!) or write for ohAmanda (remember my cryptic “really important” blog posts? still haven’t finished), I clicked open to twitter and noticed lots of tweets ABOUT ME! One was from my bbb Brandi from Will Blog For Shoes. Two were from a bloggy hero and superstar Janice from 5minutesformom!

Why were they so nicely tweeting about moi? Because I wrote a little blurb for the Ultimate Blog Party ’10! What’s that? You’ve never heard of the Ultimate Blog Party? Well, it’s the original fun linky party! You can click over to 5minutesformom to see my testimony….(waiting)…back yet? OK.

When I saw Janice at Blissdom this year the first thing I told her was that story. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the UBP, I might still be pretending I was a great writer! Ha! Anyway, Janice asked me to send her that little story because they are posting stories from bloggers about the UBP this week.

As I was writing it I went back through my first posts to see how I came across 5minutesformom, etc. It is so funny to read those first posts. I had NO idea what anything bloggy was. I broke so many “rules”. And I can hear and feel and remember what my blog felt like then. I was just writing into a vast bloggy black hole. Now when I write I think about people, those I know, don’t know, hope to meet and wish I knew. I feel colors and warmth and depth and textrure when I write and see other blogs. I feel a tight connectiveness among my bloggy friends. Because as free and open as I am with my friends, there is something about a blog that makes you just a tad more REAL and OPEN and TRUE. Some of my bloggy friends have been reading me every day for three years. I don’t talk to most of my real life friends every day! I know computers can’t replace human touch, but wow, there is an amazing connection that my blog has brought to my life.

I’m sure I’m rambling but I just wanted to say that I love you guys. I do! Thank you for reading. Thank you for listening to me. For considering my little old life something worth reading. I cherish your connectedness to my blog. I cherish your emails and tweets. Mostly I cherish the friendship and genuine care and love I receive from you.
