I’m just sitting at my computer while Lydia watches the end of the Tinker Bell movie and Asa tries to crawl up onto the fireplace, the chair, the couch and the sidetables. It’s one of those days where I have lots to do (like clean the house before Les’ fam comes over at 1pm) but after already doing the laundry, making 3 breakfasts, feeding Asa twice and fixing Lydia’s hair—well, I’m just not in the mood.
Asa’s been waking up at 5am every morning. I feed him and he goes back to sleep until 7am. It’s not as bad as twice a night and I know it could be worse. BUT that stretch between 5:20 and 7am is like the death toll. (Or is it death nail? Anyway, it stinks.) I either listen to the birds and watch the sky get lighter…which doesn’t sound too bad until my mind starts whirring and I start thinking about all the emails I haven’t returned, the posts I need to write and all the great ideas I have about world peace and the Iranian election (just kidding, I don’t even know anything about the election. I just saw it was a trending topic on twitter this morning), then I finally fall asleep about 6:15 and just as I’m entering that really really asleep phase–it’s 7am.
So, even though I spent a good 45 minutes thinking about what I was going to post today, it must have gotten mixed up in my dreams because I can’t remember a thing about it. The only thing I can think of that I’ve been meaning to ask you about is…
WHO’S WATCHING SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?
Because I am not. *gasp* I do not have cable. *choke* Which was my husband’s frugal idea until the fall shows start…then with all the mucho dinero we’ve saved we can buy a new tv. But now I’m very much regretting the idea. I saw a tweet about Mia Michaels the other day. And Nigel. And yes, even Mary. AND I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON!
Anyone want to fill me in? Please tell me it’s the worst season ever. Please.
OK. Tinkerbell is done. Don’t forget about my Little Debbie giveaway. It ends uhm…this weekend.

Is SYTYCD available online? I usually watch shows that I miss online. Most of the major networks have at least some of their shows available. Check hulu.com too.

Amanda, I’m not watching SYTYCD either! I think the first season! I was determined to take a break from TV after SO MANY TV shows this winter/spring. I’ve enjoyed every second of it though. Rickey.org does post some of the dances if you want to see them.

Hi Amanda,
I think this is my first comment, since your site didn’t remember me. Anyway I have no recollection of how I found you (did you visit me? did google reader recommend you? I can’t remember now) but I’ve been reading for a while, so… here I am!
You can find the episodes on youtube, section by section. Also, it’s on fox – you shouldn’t need cable. Right? Or am I confused about how the new digital tv works without cable or antennae?

So, here’s the haps on SYTYCD. You’ve probably discovered that you can find parts of episodes on youtube, but not on Fox (I think it’s because they don’t want to pay extra royalties for the music or to the dancers, which I think is the reason why there are no SYTYCD DVDs, although you can find pirated copies around…I digress…).
The season is good, but the happiest news for you is that there is going to be a fall season of SYTYCD. Yes, indeed! They are having auditions right now, and will start up again just in time for your cable to have arrived. Happy days are just around the corner for you.
I will say, while there are a couple of darlings, there’s no Twitch or Joshua substitute. So, there’s that. Lil C was a judge last night and made up several fabulous phrases which the dancers nodded their heads to, but Nigel said, “I have no idea what Lil C is talking about.” Ha.

Yay! We can be no-cable buddies 🙂 Only my frugal husband isn’t giving me mine back in the Fall. Or ever. No, really it was a mutual decsion, and one I was quite happy with until the morning after the digital changeover when PBS diappeared completely. All of that would still be okay if I could get my DVD player to open. I am seriously beginning to think God is sending me a strong message about our TV habits 🙂
Can’t help you with SYTYCD, but I am chomping at the bit for the second season of the Duggar show to come out on DVD. And when dh discovered that there were two episodes of Burn Notice already on Hulu the other night? Well, you’d have thought it was Christmas in the Young household!

What a BUMMER! I love SYTYCD, but as another commenter said, the good news is that they’re having a fall season! And really, Mary Murphy is more annoying than EVER!!!!

We don’t have cable either… just an antenna on the top of our house. But we still get the channel SYTYCD is on. I actually don’t watch any TV (but LOST, of course), so it’s weird that I even know this. Just happened to be hanging out on the couch when my husband was flipping through some channels and he stopped there for a bit. Are you able to get some decent channels with the switch to digital… I think we get 32 channels??
Lisa @ Crazy Adventures in Parenting says
Honey, we moved in the middle of the season and couldn’t see it live because we went weeks without satellite. YOUTUBE!You can catch up on ALL of it – people put it up there. It’s usually split up between 10-15 different videos, but you can totally watch it, pause it to your hearts content 🙂

Sorry about the lack of sleep! I don’t know how you do it! I would say be comforted because he’ll be a teenager before you know it, but THAT IS ANYTHING BUT COMFORTING! Oh! I don’t want that sweet chunk to grow up too fast!
About the tv…I’m in the same boat! I used to be able to get some fuzzy channels, but with the new digitalness I get nothing! I have a converter box, but I’m going to have to get two expensive antennas or cable. I’m leaning toward cable…. Ugh! Why does everything have to be so expensive these days?
ps…I’m going to try and sneek into Waumba Land to see you this week. I miss you guys!

Poor Oh Amanda! I am not digging the early wake up times around here either.
We’ve gone without cable now for 10 months. It’s really not so bad. It’s the DVR I miss the most, though. Especially since there really is no planning to watch a TV show with these 2 kids I have.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
