I’ve been thinking about the purpose of my blog lately. Yes, purpose. As in why the heck do I write on this thing everyday? Is it to keep in contact with my family and friends? Not really. To meet new people? Yeah. To practice writing every day? Yeah. To win free stuff? Sometimes. To be funny? Thoughtful? Inspiring? I dunno.
Honestly, I’ve been having a little bit of blog envy. There’s this blog I read. This blogger doesn’t read my blog, so if you’re reading this, I’m not talking about you. Anyway, s/he’s an ok writer. I think I do better (sometimes). All his/her good points & qualities–well, I’ve got them, too. So, how did s/he become a “famous” blogger? I think it has something to do with focus and purpose.
I post someting inspirational one day, a meme the next, a Wordless Wednesday picture, an embarrassing story and a youtube video to round out the week.
I guess I’m kind of rambling. I do have a question in here. What’s the purpose of your blog? Can you identify it? Should you even have a focus, theme or purpose?

Man! I know what you mean about blog envy. People with hundreds of comments, and maybe they’re good and all, but some people seem really obsessed with these blog owners. As much as I’d like readers, too many would scare me a little.
I feel like mine is sort of random, because such is my life. I mean, if we’re going to strap a bunch of rules on blogging, forget it. You can’t put creativity in a box. If you cut a certain something out of your blog for the sake of focus, it might be the something someone was really looking forward to.
Just my thoughts anyway.

Good question Amanda!
I stopped over here thinking there wouldn’t be an update and I’m working my way up several (love that!)…
I think I try to keep my own voice present whether talking about a recipe, speaking faith, or doing a meme… it’s all me. I think your blog is very you no matter what your post is. I love the direction of your blog and think it is like visiting you and having a little chat, or walking in and you saying, “hey, look at this.” I love coming over here.

What is the purpose of my blog? Good question. Can’t say that I know the answer though. 🙂 I started mine because I got back into contact with a ‘long lost friend’, and she had one, so I read it and loved it! Then I started thinking ‘hey, I want one too!’, so I started one. At first my main reason for having it was to keep friends and family in the loop with our life and to give me a creative outlet (yes, my writing is THAT good…right?), then it was for comments (gotta love the comments!) and now, well, it’s a little of everything. I love reading other people’s blogs and making new friends (virtually, although it would be great to actually meet some of these people!)
Well, look at that! I think I did answer your question! How ’bout that?! 🙂

I don’t really have a purpose for my blog. It’s just me, and what I’m doing, or what’s going through my head and heart at the time. I started reading BooMama’s from the LPM blog, and got hooked. I’m not sure I want to have all that many comments, ’cause I can’t just sit and do this all day. I have a basketball ministry to do, and it is kickin’! I’ve really enjoyed meeting women out there with the same interests as me, and hearing about their experiences. Are you wanting your blog to be bigger? I think the way to do that is to get out and visit more, and out of courtesy payback comments, you’ll grab some for loyal readers. I personally like your blog. It’s you.

I battle blog envy myself (yours is one of the ones I envy…btw).
Anyhoo, I think my blog is different everyday, because I’m different everyday. There are days that I blog for an audience and there are days that I blog for myself.
It may not get me into the bloggy hall of fame, but there’s no better reflection of me!
