Weird Things That Happened To Me This Week: Top Ten {Tuesday}

Let’s play a little game, shall we? I’ll give you TEN things that have happened to me this week. ONE of them is a LIE. That’s right, pure FICTION. The rest of them are true. Originally, I was going to write a great description along with every sentence (basically, so you would believe me). But these are funnier on their own. So, READ. GUESS. And I’ll give you the answer tomorrow. And all my undying love and affection for whoever else thinks this is a funny list.

1. Made a date with my aunt to CAN TOMATOES.

2. Stepped on a BINDER CLIP at the pool and sliced the bottom of my foot open.

3. Went swimming with FOUR GUYS I WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL with.

4. Led ONE HUNDRED 4 YEAR OLDS in singing.

5. Cooked dinner for nine of my IN-LAWS.

6. Missed a meeting because my husband took my kids AND MY CELL PHONE AND CAR KEYS out to dinner.

7. Discovered ON FACEBOOK that my cousin got married this week.

8. Accidentally stabbed myself with 2 bamboo skewers. IN MY ELBOW.

9. Ran TWO MILES without stopping.

10. Figured out the amazingness that is POKE on Facebook.

So, what do you think? Which ones really happened? Which one is the lie?

**update: read my update post to see which one is actually a lie!**

  1. Kathy @ House of Hills says

    August 9, 2010 at 10:30 pm

    Well, this is fun!
I KNOW at least four of them are true.
So, I’m going with #9 as a lie. I think you ran 3.

    • oh amanda says

      August 9, 2010 at 10:36 pm

Hmmm…wow, you know FOUR of them are true? WTG, Kath! But my lips are sealed…

  2. Charissa @ MiMi's Babies says

    August 9, 2010 at 10:36 pm

    I’m going with #4. I think it felt like 100 kids! 🙂

    • oh amanda says

      August 9, 2010 at 10:45 pm

      You never know…

  3. [email protected] says

    August 9, 2010 at 10:36 pm

Oh my goodness! Yes, MUCH better w/out explanations! I’m going with #9 too, if I found out you ran I will have to pick my jaw up off the ground!

    • oh amanda says

      August 9, 2010 at 10:45 pm

      Should I be offended?!

      a

  4. Crystal says

    August 9, 2010 at 10:45 pm

I am going to guess #8, just because 2 injuries in one week seems a little worrisome, though I really have NO clue!! I hope you didn’t sustain both injuries!!What an eventful, crazy week for you! Mine was crazy but nothing particularly out of the normal under this morning- I broke a dish by dropping a spice jar on it, and I couldn’t believe that little jar broke it- must’ve hit at just that right spot that was a weak point. I just stood there trying to figure out if my eyes were playing tricks on me as my egg mixture for french toast spread all over my countertop and onto the floor!!

    • oh amanda says

      August 9, 2010 at 10:46 pm

#8 does make me laugh out loud…

      a

  5. Amy says

    August 9, 2010 at 10:46 pm

Ok, I gotta go with the running thing too. If you did run that, I’m gonna have to ask why you haven’t talked much about being a runner! Besides that, you’re gonna have to explain the poke on facebook because I super-duper don’t get the draw!

Now, off to think of ten things that relate to each other…

    • oh amanda says

      August 9, 2010 at 10:46 pm

Wow. Who knew everyone thinks I’m so un-athletic?

Also. Thinkin’ about a whole post on POKE.

      a

      • Amy says

        August 9, 2010 at 10:56 pm

Not that you are unathletic, but from personal experience, I tend to scream it from the rooftop when I run anything more than a mile 😉

        Please do the POKE post!

        • [email protected] says

          August 9, 2010 at 11:01 pm

Good point Amy! If she kept that quiet from twitter that would be even MORE shocker than her actually running 2 miles;)

  6. Audrey says

    August 9, 2010 at 11:15 pm

I’m thinking the swimming with four high school guys. #1 it just sounds different than the rest, and #2 that would be TWO pool posts. Hmmm. But they’re all hilarious.

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:50 am

Yeah, stepping on a binder clip and slicing my foot open WHILE I was with 4 guys from High School would be a little crazy all in one day…

      a

  7. Audrey says

    August 9, 2010 at 11:18 pm

PS I believe you ran all two miles. Go you!

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:51 am

      Whoo-hoo! Thanks, Audrey!! 🙂

      {ahem. Did you see that Mandi & Amy?!}

      a

  8. MainlineMom says

    August 9, 2010 at 11:52 pm

OMG girl, HILARIOUS! I think the false one is the four guys you went to high school with. But who knows!

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:51 am

      Who knows, indeed!

      a

  9. Kari says

    August 10, 2010 at 12:21 am

I’m voting for the four guys, too. Off to make my “guess the lie” list. Fun idea!

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:52 am

Oh, good! Are you going to do the same thing? Can’t wait to read it!

      a

  10. Jen @ BigBinder says

    August 10, 2010 at 12:36 am

I am spending time seriously thinking about this. And laughing at it, but deep in thought… I have to guess the skewers in the elbow, because I just can’t get the mechanics of how that would happen. But I will tune in tomorrow to find out for sure…

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:52 am

The mechanics of the bamboo skewers….I love you, Jen!

      a

  11. staci says

    August 10, 2010 at 2:10 am

I think it is #10, or it will take a lot of convincing that POKE is not the most annoying thing ever.

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:53 am

LOL. I’m off to POKE you.

      a

  12. Raven says

    August 10, 2010 at 4:18 am

I’m going to take a wild guess and say number 3.

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:53 am

The 4 High School guys seem pretty popular—maybe b/c it seems like the stuff nightmares are made of? Or daydreams?!

      a

  13. Vanderbilt Wife says

    August 10, 2010 at 7:41 am

Is it too mean to say I don’t think you ran 2 miles? I couldn’t either, if it makes you feel better. 😉

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:54 am

You and Mandi and Amy! Hmph.

      a

  14. MamaHall says

    August 10, 2010 at 8:02 am

i think a binder clip would float. i’m guessing you didn’t run 2 miles or you don’t have 9 in-laws. that’s a lot of in-laws. you would be crazier.
    fun! 🙂

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 8:17 am

You have to guess just ONE! lol!

      a

  15. Leigh says

    August 10, 2010 at 8:05 am

how are you just discovering Poke? Hove you gotten into Super Poke yet? Can I throw sheep at you now? I was going to say that #1 is a lie, but you’ve been on a wilder-bend lately, so canning could definitely be in the works! 😉 I’m thinking it’s the 4 guys from HS, too…

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 8:18 am

I’ve never even heard of Super Poke! Oh, Leigh, you must inform me…

      a

  16. kelly @ miskellany says

    August 10, 2010 at 8:11 am

my guess is the poke is the lie.

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 8:18 am

Poke. Poke. Poke. You either love it or hate it.

      a

  17. Andrea says

    August 10, 2010 at 8:17 am

Definitely stepped on the clipped. But the keys things…..that seems like something that probably happened too!

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 9:21 am

Yeah, a binder clip at a pool…sounds weird, huh?

      a

  18. [email protected]_catholic says

    August 10, 2010 at 8:20 am

Just to be different I am voting for #1. Except for reading your blog I don’t know you, so I have absolutely no clue which one is a lie. 🙂

(P.S. I also have no clue what POKE is on FB. Will have to check it out.)

Thanks for hosting Top 10 Tuesday!

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 9:22 am

Thanks for linking up! Sadly, this weird list is highly descriptive of me…

      a

  19. Lani says

    August 10, 2010 at 8:58 am

Wow! I’m not fun of poking in FB… summer is almost over here, just round up colld noodles/pasta I ate! Have a nice day!

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 9:20 am

I love that everyone is concerned about the FB poke! LOL. Can’t wait to read your pasta post…hopefully I can find something for lunch! 😉

  20. Mary @ Giving Up on Perfect says

    August 10, 2010 at 9:41 am

Okay, I’m sorry, but I’m picking #9. Not that I don’t think you can run, but because the rest are so crazy, but I can totally imagine them happening!!!

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 9:49 am

I can’t believe you sided with Jessie and Amy and Mandi!!

  21. Ashley says

    August 10, 2010 at 10:14 am

I’m going to vote that #7 didn’t really happen. 🙂 Thanks for hosting this awesome link-up each week!

  22. Trina says

    August 10, 2010 at 10:30 am

I’m going with #10….hoping that you truly don’t think POKE is awesome LOL 🙂

  23. Teri says

    August 10, 2010 at 11:22 am

My guess is #9 too. Based on what I know about you from reading the blog, this is my best guess and here is my supporting arguement…

    http://ohamanda.com/2010/04/15/i-think-i-can-i-think-i-can/

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:50 pm

Oooh, Teri! You get double points for using my own blog against me!

      a

  24. Sarah says

    August 10, 2010 at 11:32 am

I’m going with #3. Maybe it’s just because I’m not brave enough to ever do that! 😉

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:50 pm

Yeah. That’s kind of a weird thought isn’t it?

      a

  25. Gina says

    August 10, 2010 at 12:17 pm

#10. Poke amazing? You’re on crack. 😉 It’s just another thing I ignore and I’ve never quite discovered the purpose. And SuperPoke? Super annoying.

  26. Amanda says

    August 10, 2010 at 12:40 pm

i’m going to guess #5 is false. 9 inlaws is that possible?

  27. Joelle says

    August 10, 2010 at 1:56 pm

    Ok, I’ll go with #3.

  28. Amy says

    August 10, 2010 at 2:51 pm

OK, I had to come back and see what everyone was voting for! I can’t wait to hear which is false! haha

  29. Sarah @ Ordinary Days says

    August 10, 2010 at 3:38 pm

I’m going with the facebook poking.

also, can not wait to hear all about the true ones. What a week!

  30. The Diaper Diaries says

    August 10, 2010 at 4:14 pm

I really want to vote for #9, but I fear it will make you hate me. So I am going to go with the in-laws. Cause I feel like you would have complained about that on Twitter 😉

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:51 pm

You get two points just for not siding with Amy/Mary/Mandi!

      a

  31. Becky @TheVioletFig says

    August 10, 2010 at 5:08 pm

I have to guess #9 because I think the only sisterchick capable of (and interested in) running 2 miles would be K-dogg!

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:51 pm

      Grrrrr….

      a

  32. Gayle Rogers says

    August 10, 2010 at 7:49 pm

I think #1 because Sheila doesn’t seem the type to can tomatoes.

    • oh amanda says

      August 10, 2010 at 7:52 pm

Oooh, Gayle’s got some inside info! 🙂
