I thought we’d spend Memorial Day cleaning our house, working outside or maybe even watching movies. But when my husband announced he wanted to go to the Braves game, there was no other option. Even though it was supposed to rain and we didn’t have tickets, they would not be deterred. Nothing could drown out Lydia singing “Take me out to the ballgame…!”
So, now, in no particular order, are the Top Ten Pictures from the Braves Game on Memorial Day…
1. We were in line for 20 minutes just to get into the parking lot. Of course, Asa fell asleep about 10 minutes before we parked. And even amidst the cheering and tomahawk chops, he slept for a good 45 minutes. Cute as pie.

2. We had been hoping to buy some boiled peanuts off a vendor in the parking lot. But with a 4 year old that had to go to the bathroom and a sleeping 1 year old, we had to settle for the park peanuts. Asa tried to open them himself. He’d hold it in his little hand and squeeze and squeeze. He was never successful but he didn’t mind.

3. Lydia brought her binoculars and asked questions (after question after question!) about everything she saw.

4. Asa and Lydia shared a seat most of the game. Asa loved being a big boy and Lydia loved being the big sister.

5. We ate peanuts AND popcorn (they didn’t have cracker jacks!) and even though 50% of it was burnt we ate it up!

6. After the game, Lydia was still eating peanuts. Look how serious she about cracking open that peanut!
7. We had to descend about 3 staircases to get this close to the field and a kindly old gentleman offered to take our picture for us! {The Beach Boys were performing after the game, so no good field pictures!}

8. Braves Win! Braves Win! We beat the Phillies 9-3! Go Bravos!

9. For our obligatory Memorial Day patriotic picture, Lydia posed with Lady Liberty. (Asa was petrified of her!) After taking the picture it made me wonder if it was a little anti-patriotic with the Braves garb on…

10. It was a long day that we made even longer by stopping at Fellini’s, Cold Stone and HomeGoods(what? they were right next door to each other!). Here’s Asa with a tired, sun-baked, sugar coma stare.
