Top Ten {Tuesday}: Fashion

in top ten tuesday

I am not a fashionista. In fact, I can’t pinpoint a style that I exactly like. I kinda like everything. Of course, I’m the most comfortable in jeans and a tshirt. But when I stroll the mall (those rare blissfull occasions), I like almost everything I see while window shopping. And with that in mind, here are my…

TOP TEN FAVORITE FASHION-Y FASHIONS.

(do you ever tire of my titles? I don’t.)

1. The Surfer Girl

roxy surfer girl

I’m a surfer brand junkie. Give me a bikini and a sock hat and I’m happy. KIDDING. I just love the sporty, thrown-together, youthful look of the surfer/skater/skibunny brands like this one from Roxy.

2. Super Long Cuffs

gap sweater long cuffs

I adore long cuffs. I have naturally cold hands, so curling up under some super long cuffs–be it on a sweater, a coat or a hoodie? Scrumptious. This sweater is from the gap and although I’m not a fan of the colors, I would wear this everyday because of the cuffs.

3. The Romantic

anthropologie

I’m not sure if that’s really the correct description. But to me, this is the outfit a girl in a sweet romantic movie would wear. She’s not a cheap date, she’s just a sweet, classy, creative soul. And yes, this is from Anthropolgie. I could live in Anthropologie and never want for more.

4. The Businessy Woman

I love a good business casual look. It’s nice becuase you’re not so dressy to feel over-dressed, but you look smart and casual at the same time. And this one from Ann Taylor? I love the wide legs, the long sweater and the straight front pants. So clean!

5. Classically Funky

bcbg maxazaria

I adore BCBG and Max Azria. The fabrics are comfy, the designs unique and the price—RIDICULOUS. But if you are like my husband, you can scope out TJMaxx you can get a deal. Les scored a cute BCBG skirt and top I wore to the Magic Castle in Hollywood at the Nestle Event. (They didn’t allow cameras in, so no one recorded how adorable I was!)

6. Casual Mama

lucky brand jeans

This is my old standby. It is what I wear everyday. I just hope I look as cute as her. This outfit is from Lucky Brand. You may remember that I am slightly addicted to their jewelry.

7. Colorfully Creative

anthropologie

I’m usually a black/brown/grey kinda girl. If I can find something purple that’s cute, I’ll get that, too. But mostly I’m pretty boring. I’d love love love to wear more colors but I can never figure out what really looks good together. I adore this very earthy-toned outfit paired with some yellow shoes from Anthropologie (of course). It’s delicious—those shoes make the whole outfit!

8. Patterns

runway crazy ugly

I love me a good pattern. But this is NOT a good one! I found this online somewhere, sorry I’m not sure where. Because I’d LOVE to give credit…

9. Hats

I wish hats were in style. I adore vintage hats with flowers, feathers and veils. So romantic. And sweet. And just super cute. This is actually a picture from Roxy’s current catalog…maybe little hats are making a comeback?

10. Mid 90′s

doc martens mary jane 1995

Speaking of teeny-bopper, how can I forget my own teen years? I had some sweet Doc Martens that I would still wear if my hubby would let me.

Oh, that diagonal outfit! Yikes.

Fun list. I love hats. I have quite a collection, but I haven’t worn them much since becoming a mama. I love the surfer girl look too and usually dress like a surfer/rock chick/casual bohemian. How’s that for a style?!

I had Doc Marten’s, too, that I bought at Shelly’s in Covent Garden when I was studying in London for a semester in college. <– And writing that sentence makes me feel all trendy, but alas – that was in 1997. And here I sit in 2009, in yoga pants (with a hole, no less) and a drooled-up old T-shirt. Nowadays my style is all about “broke, tired stay-at-home Mama” – a look which I have perfected. :-)

WHat fun! We were recently talking about my “style” (or lack thereof). Our determination is casual mama (based on your picture) with a little bit of hippie thrown in! Honestly, I am having a hard time giving up my Teva Mush…

I love this list–I’m glad to see the doc martens made the list. You must get a pair and wear them to the next U2 concert. :) Also, I am with you on the anthropologie thing–that store has the most incredible smell, even if it were filled with video games and lawnmowers (two things I don’t shop for), I would still go in, just for the smell.

We could be fashion twins! Except for the hat part. I can’t handle hats, but they do look cute on others. And I’m with you on the colors thing. I’m never quite sure what goes well together. Oddly enough, my husband is excellent at it!

Love it! I love every style too. I can’t ever decide. It’s kind of nice though because I can change up my style a lot and I feel like I’m reinventing myself. It’s fun.

I’m not a fashionista either and I am not tied to any brands. However, I don’t like it that all the pics portray skinny people as models. Those clothes look great on someone smaller than me, but would not look good on my plus size curves. (My beef with the fashion industry, not with you!)

I never realized how much I love a long cuff until I read that. YES!! I love it when I can keep my hands inside my sleeve. Oh simple pleasures :)

Love this list! Classically Funky would be my pick if I could choose which look I’d want to maintain. Of course, I think I maintain the Cheap & Snot-Stained look like nobody’s business!
