Real Beauty

Stephanie‘s photo tag got me thinking. All the pictures the girls posted of themselves without make up were beautiful! Everyone looked great to me. And everyone said the same about me. (aw, gee, thanks!) But most of us (including myself) also said that we refuse to go to the store without make up on. I wear make up even when I know I’m not going out at all! Isn’t it weird how much of our self-esteem is tied to MAKE UP?

Today my mom showed me this video from Dove. I’ve seen their ads of course but this…this is moving.

What do you think?

Wow!! That is truly amazing…and not necessarily in a good way!

I guess I’m not your average girl. I wear makeup maybe…4 days a week?

Dove always has the most thought provoking commercials. Don’t worry Kristen, I rarely wear makeup. We can be odd ducks together.

    Thanks for sharing Amanda!

Amazing to watch. I didn’t hear the sound… somethings funky with my puter, but I thought without the sound, the video makes an amzingly thoughtful point. The thing is that by this standard really everyone is beautiful. I kinda want them to do that to my face just to see, it looks sort of fun to be an awsome beauty for one day.

I do love this video, too. Amazing how many women aren’t aware of this “reality!”

I was one who participated in the contest via Stephanie’s blog and at first felt ill as I pressed send. After my pic has been out there for a few days, I look at it again and wonder what was so awful. Why was I so nervous? I just think it really freed me from being so disgusted with my natural self. Seeing this video makes me realize – we are being fooled so much to feel not good enough! The models aren’t even as perfect as they seem! And yes, we are all beautiful, we need to stop buying into this lie that we are not good enough! Thanks for posting the video, I had not seen it!

Came over from Pensieve. I have seen this a few times, but always find it fascinating. Between makeup & photoshop, we’re seeing women striving so hard for something they don’t even know isn’t real! Thanks for posting the link back to here!

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
