Belated Giveaway Day Four

So, I think my day o’ famous people made me a little bamboozled and I forgot about my week o’ giveaways. But before we get to that let’s talk about my famous PEOPLE…yes, as in plural!

First: ALTON BROWN. For those of you wondering, YES! He was so nice. In fact, I think he might have been a little surprised I wanted my picture taken with him. Every single time I walk into Whole Foods I hope he’s in there. Because he’s always on location at our local Whole Foods (called Harry’s here). I had been in the store all of 3 mintues when I saw him and his enterouge. They were filming in the produce section so there were lights, cameras, a giant flat screen and about ten people in the crew.

I started freaking out–I grabbed my phone to call Jason, text a tweet and get my camera out! Suddenly Lydia started screaming. Apparently, this episode is about ginger because there was a giant gingberbread man costume character eerily hanging out behind Alton. And we were behind it. (WHAT IF WE GOT IN THE SHOT? I COULD BE ON TV!!)

Anyway, I grabbed Lydia out of the cart, and went to stand on the other side of the camera crew. We stood there for about five minutes and then they broke to go to a new location.

And that’s when ALTON BROWN WALKED TOWARDS MEΒ  DOWN MY AISLE. So, what could I do but ask for a picture? He said yes and then asked me my name. After I said, “Amanda” he said, “I’m Alton.” (REALLY?!)

He talked to Lydia for a second and then…I don’t know! I was so freaked out I can’t really remember it. It still makes me giddy to think about it! EEEK.

(Oh, how I wish I had taken my FLIP video camera out when I saw Alton and whispered, “This is Amanda from ohamanda.com and I am stalking Alton Brown RIGHT NOW!” )

Now, famous people #2:

I WENT TO THE SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE TOUR last night! As in Joshua, Katee, Twitch and THAYNE. *sigh*

I didn’t get very many good pictures but…

how could you vote him off, America?

And the rest…

sytycd

Oh, and Les and me. “For real.”

season IV

for real

(oh, this is kinda an inside joke thingie from the season 4 contestants. do i look cool?)

NOW ONTO THE GIVEAWAY.

The best part of stalking famous people is the pictures. (Do you remember when Staci and I were stalking Brian Littrell? Darn our fear! We didn’t get one good picture!) So, today I’m giving away some free prints from Shutterfly.com. You’ll get 25 4×6, 2 5×7 & 1 8×10 prints. For free. FOR REAL.

Just think, I could have an 8×10 of me and Alton in the kitchen. And one of Thayne by my mirror. And how many pictures do I have with tobyMac? Did I ever tell you about the time I met Yanni? Now, wouldn’t that be an interesting picture. And one day soon, I hope to have a picture of me and Harry Connick Jr. (BE STILL MY HEART).

Anyway, leave me a comment about a famous person you’ve met. Or semi-famous person. It doesn’t matter. I’ll just pretend I met them, too.

I’ll close the comment sometime and announce the winner someday. ‘Cuz I’m obviously on top of the scheduling thing like that.

(And don’t forget, my other THREE contests are still up: Safari Tummy Time Mat, $50 from bn.com and some cutie salt and pepper shakers from Anthropologie.)

To be honest, I had to Google Alton Brown so I could be duly impressed. So now I am! I didn’t know SYTYCD had a tour! How cool.

Famous people…I got to meet Darren Hayes when he was still part of Savage Garden. Had my picture taken with him and everything. I was going to marry him…until I found out he was gay. That kind of quashed the dream. Oh well. I’ve probably met someone else famous, but that memory eclipses all others. It was years of dreaming and wishing culminating into one very happy moment for me. Happy sigh.

    Crud. I can’t think of anyone famous…hmmmm.
OH! I got my shirt signed by the lead singer/drummer of Cowboy Mouth in college.
And my cousin is Adam Putnam. He’s a Republican, but whatever, I still get to see him on CNN all the time. πŸ˜‰

Through my job, I’ve met some people I consider famous in the Christian book world: Claude King (Experiencing God), Priscilla Shirer, Angela Thomas, Bill and Pam Farrel, Barb and Gary Rosberg, Max Lucado. I can’t think of anyone “really” famous I’ve met, although Randy Travis did come in some place where we were having dinner one night. But I wouldn’t have known it was him except the people I was eating with knew it. I probably see country music stars all the time but I don’t know who they are. πŸ˜‰

I was in the same room as Steven Curtis Chapman but was too scared to speak to him. He’s a little guy.

I’ve talked to and had my picture taken with Bobby Lashley (professional wrestler). I also talked to and took my son’s picture with Booker T (another professional wrestler).

And I’m so jealous you got to see Twitch live! I

When I was 13, Prince Charles shook my hand and spoke to me. Lady Dianna was very much still alive at the time, but she was across the street shaking other people’s hands. Other than that, I’ve led a fairly prosaic life.

I have met Sonny, the lead singer of P.O.D. I’ve also met Ricky Skaggs. And once, while in NYC, I was walking down the road and I saw Al Roker in his car at Times Square. I think that is about it for me.

I thinks these people would be considered famous … to those in the world of Soap Operas … Several years ago I met part of the crew from Days of Our Lives … John, Marlena, Steve, Kayla, Bo, Frankie, Jen, Victor, Jack … it’s been years ago.

Hmm, I haven’t met anyone REALly famous. When I was ’bout 10 my mom threatened my life(kidding) to get a local news anchor’s autograph, Denis Richmond. And we had this local show Romper Room and I got to meet Nancy. The most famous I’ve met is a country singer Paul Brandt, he had a hit “I Do”. I made my BF take the day off work to see him play in some random parking lot!

I work for a ministry that had an event in DC, and there I met Michael W. Smith and Mike Huckabee… and I met a Congressman at an event we had in San Diego a few weeks ago. It’s fun to meet fun people!

Girl. You didn’t tell me about the SYTYCD tour! All in the same week as AB? I’d just stop right there. Nothing else you need to do for the rest of the year. ANd… btw, if you meet HCJr and you DON’T tell him that I (not you, ME!) am his biggest fan, I just don’t know what I’ll do. And yes, you look supa-cool 4-real.

Hmmm… famous people – Carrol O’Connor used to go to my church in ATL. And then there was the time in middle school that some radio station advertised that ALL the Young Riders were going to be at Stone Mountain for a charity event, so my BFF at the time and I went and paid our little $5 and only got to see Toby (was that his name? He played the deaf bald one). He was nice, but I wanted Josh Brolin. We also got to meet the big brother from Family Matters and some other really cute guy from the Outsiders TV show.

Oh, I am *jeal-ous*. My little and I *love*love*love* Alton. How fun! (and you look pretty cute in that picture for not having had a shower!)

My only brush with fame (that I can think of right now) is seeing the guy from 24 (whose name I can never remember) getting frisked at JFK airport. It was right around the anniversary of 911 and he was not amused.

I didn’t know you were twittering now, gotta go follow you.

Okay, so I have never met anybody famous… but a good friend of the family used to play for the Dallas Cowboys. Does that count?

And I was thrilled to see a full recap of the Alton incident. I couldn’t believe there were no details, and I became insanely jealous instantaneously. We love Alton in our house! Were the other pictures blurry because you were shaking with excitement?

Back in 1988 when we were coming home from Hawaii my father whispered to my mother about someone getting onto our plane. He simply said, “Oh my goodness that is Moses getting on our plane!” I was just a 5th grader and was naive. I had no clue who he was talking about. I mean I knew it was not really Moses. Yes, Charlton Heston was on that flight. Then when we sat in our seats a young gentleman started to play video games with my brother. That person was none other than Michael Jackson trying to pretend he was his look alike, but why would a look alike pre board the plane under the belly and sign autographs with the people working on the plane. I believe he finally admitted to my parents at the time that he was MJ. He was quite nice and chatted with us about games and things.

Love the photos of you and Alton yesterday!

Hubby and I LOVE Alton Brown. Even Livi likes to watch him. She asks so many questions that I would love to have him sit down with her and just let her pelt him with even more random stuff and see if he knows it!

Famous people – last month I got to meet Bill Rancic, first winner of The Apprentice, and his wife Guiliana (DiPandi) Rancic, who does the whole E! News with Ryan Seacrest. They were SO NICE! He’s tall and has blindingly white teeth and she’s tiny and short like me. They were our guests at a work thing and I got my picture made with them, but I haven’t been able to get my hands on the pictures yet!

Oh, and Livi would have freaked over the gingerbread man, too. She is deathly afraid of people dressed in costumes like that. Halloween was interesting…

I sang back up for Larnelle Harris one time (actually, on my 26th birthday!). It was awesome to meet him! I’ve also met Michael Tait (of DCTalk). Both are much shorter in real life than I expected.

Ok, so I’m totally lame and have never met a single famous person. But then again, I don’t really care too much anyway. However, the closest I ever got to anyone of status was when I was in jr. high and our church group went to LA on a choir tour. That Sunday we were at church (in LA) and all the girls got super giddy when Kirk Cameron was spotted in one of the pews. I saw him, but no one was allowed (by our staff) to approach him. There you have it, not even a brush with greatness. πŸ™‚

Ok, so I came over to your blog because my bloglines had not notified me of a new post of yours for a couple weeks. Lo and behold, I find that you’ve been posting and I didn’t know it! Stinkin’ lousy! At least I know now, and I will now check more often. Stinkin’ Bloglines!!! πŸ™‚

You know famous people are my weakness!

I can’t even remember how many times we’ve met DC Talk. And I know no one else would think he’s famous, but I’m gonna count Juan, too! Wonder whatever happened to him?!

Then there’s Michael English, Mark Lowry, Martin Luther King,III (yep!), I knew Phil Stacey before he got famous…does that count?, Paul Ossman (channel 11 weatherman), Usher (ran into him at the mall), of course there’s Brian Litrell (!)

I’m also gonna count famous ministry people too! Jeff Smith :), Jim Wideman, Ronnie Caldwell, Pat & Terry, Dale, Dave Privett!, and many more.

I’ve meet several professional football players. I may or may not have partaked in college partying with them. I also have meet Doug and Julie on Days of our Lives. Several Olympic medalists. And Bill Clinton… twice. Ugh… lol

How cool you got to meet Alton Brown.
I’ve met: Neil McCoy (country singer), Steve Grissolm, Mark Martin, Sterling Marlin (Nascar Drivers). I went to school and sang in chorus with Jason Mraz (I have videos of his 8th grade concert). Other than that it’s been pretty boring πŸ™‚

I didn’t enter this one yet… so, I will before you pick a winner. Let’s see… famous people I’ve met… hmm well, Jerry Falwell (obviously, I’m from Lynchburg), Rascal Flatts when I was in college, and when I was living in NYC I met Rosie O’Donnell and I saw Alec Baldwin, but I didn’t meet him. I think that’s all. Oh… no, that’s not all… also in NYC I met Jessica Simpson. haha

    Okay. that’s it.

    yep.

Does this enter me twice? hehe
