Has this week been crazy for you? Have you just realized it’s like less than 2 weeks till Christmas?
ME, TOOOOOO!
So, the other day I got an email from Awana. You know what Awana is? It’s like a mid-week club-type program that a lot of churches do for kids. I don’t know anything about Awana except for it’s heavy on Bible memory and the little kids are called Cubbies and wear red vests. (Sounds fun, right?)
When I saw the email was from Awana and knowing I’d never been involved with them I said, “Eh. I’m not going to post about whatever it is they are asking about because my December calendar is just too full.”
Then, I read the email.
Awana is trying to get Bibles into the hands of kids in Kenya. These are the kids who live in the garbage dumps of Nairobi. Awana and their partner, Crossway hope to giveaway 50,000 Bibles to these kids.
How can I not get involved with that? I tell you about 31 different Bibles for your kids and I forget about the millions of kids around the world who don’t even have one Bible of their very own? In their own language? On their reading level?
I emailed them back and said, “I was going to say no. But I can’t. I have to tell people about this!”
Now, here’s what’s fun and easy about it. All you have to do is buy a tshirt. Buy a tshirt for 15 bucks and a Bible goes into a kids’ hand.
That’s it.
If you’re looking for a Christmas gift that will give more, give double, give back and have eternal ramifications? I’m likin’ this one.
