A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words

Best Bible Based Books for Kids // a series by ohAmanda.com

If I had to rank my favorite Bible Story books, I’d say the See With Me Bible probably comes in at #2 after the Jesus Storybook Bible. Both of my kids have spent hours with the See With Me Bible.

The stories in this Bible are not told with words. No, these stories are told only in pictures. Not just any pictures, mind you! Each page is full of whimsical, rich details that tell the story more than you ever thought a picture could do!

Asa and I use this one every week in homeschool. It’s perfect as a review or to see how much your child knows about the story. You can use this to have them tell you the story.

I love the way the illustrator, Dennis Jones depicts Jesus as a genuine, personable guy.

And of course, my kids’ favorite is the bumps on the 10 Lepers!

This is also a perfect book for introducing the crucifixion of Jesus because it’s serious but cartoon-ish enough that it shouldn’t cause too much trauma for little minds.

The only bummer is it’s out of print! UGH! Dennis Jones does have the SuperHeroes Bible, some I Can Read Bible books and the NIrV Read With Me Bible (and the toddler version) which still have some amazing illustrations. But there is something about this See With Me Bible that is just special. There’s something about interacting with the pictures and imagining what is going on that helps kids meditate in their own way.

Put it on your wishlist and grab it if you ever find it for a good deal!

Does anyone have this Bible?

We have the NIrV Read With Me Bible but love the idea of this one. I’ll keep my eye out for a good deal. Maybe after your post they’ll put it back into print! 😉

Hey Amanda, thanks for this terrific series! They do have that Bible at Amazon, used, for $25. Is that a good deal?

Well, $25 is a lot for a book to me. But I guess it just depends on how much you want it! 🙂
