What I’m Doing For Easter

After Truth in the Tinsel, I got lots and lots of requests to do an Easter eBook. I really really wanted to but I just couldn’t get my head or my heart around it. The reason Truth in the Tinsel worked so well is because I tried it out on my kids 2 or 3 years before I showed it to you!

I don’t have that kind of organic experience for Easter. Oh, we’ve done fun stuff leading up to Resurrection Sunday. But it hasn’t been anything that was my very own original idea. (Of course, nothing is new under the sun, is it?)

So, I’ve been mulling Easter over in my head since Christmas. I finally sat down and wrote (yes, with a pencil!) some ideas to help my kids understand the end of the Christmas story–Jesus’ life, death and resurrection!

I’ve planned 10 activities–some crafts, some things to hang up in your house as reminders of the story and some fun activities. I’m basing it on our 5 senses because as I read all four accounts of the story in the Bible, the things that stuck out to me were the things you could see, touch and taste {think: perfume, purple robe, vinegar, bread, thorns!}.

It should be live on Monday which gives you 20 days till Easter Sunday. That way you’ll have enough time to see what we’ve done, grab some supplies and do it together! I pray it will be fun for you–and even if you don’t do all of it, that you’ll get some fun ideas!

UPDATE: These activities are now all together in one spot for you! Grab the A Sense of the Resurrection ebook now!

As far as our other traditions…

We aren’t going to do a Spring Party this year (first day of Spring is March 20!) but we will be doing our unEaster Baskets like we did last year and our Resurrection Garden!

I hope you’ll join me in leading our kids to Jesus this Easter season!

I just found your blog! I’ve been looking for ideas like these! We too want a “real” Easter and Christmas for our kids (4 and 16 months) and not what the world has made it out to be. I love your ideas here. I’m so thrilled to find you!

I just checked out your unEaster basket link and I’ll absolutely being stealing that! Love it! I also just put Benjamin’s Box and the Jesus Movie on hold at my library. ๐Ÿ™‚

I haven’t done much with Easter in past years because I never knew what to do. Also b/c my girls were a bit young. I (obviously) don’t want to do the whole Bunny thing but I know that some of the Easter things, like the eggs, do have Christian meanings behind them. This post (and the links) is so helpful!

Yay! I really {REALLY} loved our baskets last year. Speaking of which, I gotta figure out what to put in them this year!

Thank you for putting together Easter Activities! I was wondering if you were going to do something like the Truth in the Tinsel (which we got so much out of). I’m looking forward to these activities but I was wondering if you could post a supply list so that I could prepare everything in advance? Thank you again.
