1. My Kindle
Did I tell you I got a Kindle for Christmas? I’ve been using the Kindle app on Les’ iPad (which is awesome and free!!) but having my own little e-reader to carry around wherever I want? I kinda likey. Plus, look at the cute cover I got.
For some unknown reason I decided to download this book. And it took me like 3/4 of the book to realize it was YA fiction. I loved it. In fact, I loved it so much, I bought book two…
…in about .4 seconds after finishing the first one. And book 3…
4. Mockingjay
…about .4 seconds after finishing the 2nd one. I’m 27% of the way through this one and honestly, don’t want to write this post so I can finish reading. This is what my Kindle has done to me. And Young Adult fiction. And Peeta.
5. Lydia’s Christmas and Birthday Presents
Lydia got about 400 crafts as gifts this year. We made friendship bracelets today. And painted rocks. And made foam mosaics and made our own headbands. And I think there’s something else, but I’d have to wade through the glue and ribbon to remember.
6. Moustache App
7. My Church
We just got a new room and stage for our 3 and 4 year old large group (which I’m in charge of) and it was SO fun on Sunday to see all the kids bright eyes and excited faces when they walked in. Not to mention all the storytellers and worship leaders who seemed extra on their ball with a big stage and lights in their eyes!
8. My Growing Children
Asa can suddenly put on his pajamas and brush his teeth by himself. I’m like a kept woman!
9. Nehemiah
Remember my post on incourage about Nehemiah? Well, guess what my pastor spoke on the very next Sunday? Nehemiah. And guess what he spoke on this Sunday? Nehemiah? and guess what they gave us after church this week? Window clings to put in prominent places that say:
So far I put one on the iPad, my laptop and bathroom mirror. Maybe I should put one on my Kindle?
10. Leftover Christmas Chocolate
Do I really need to explain?
Tell me, what have YOU been enjoying lately? (Especially if it involves your Kindle…)

I did the same thing with The Hunger Games books … they were awesome. Can’t wait to see the movie (and really hoping it’s as good as it looks).
I hope it’s good, too. Because some of the book is…graphic. I’d hate for it to be too grown up. But Lionsgate is usually pretty good.
I’d like to hear your thoughts when you finish Mockingjay π Also, that kindle cover is missing purple but still it’s totally cute. My husband and I read the Hunger Games series at the same time. It’s actually the only series we’ve both read.
OK. Finished it. And my heart is broken. In a good way. I think it ended the way it should. But still, it’s not as happy as I’d hoped. (really trying not to spoil it for anyone reading this!)
But I am apparently addicted b/c I’ve literally been thinking about it all day today AND have succumbed to the movie trailers and IMDB. *sigh*

Oct17John M. Pattenden Review by John M. Pattenden for Rating: I was about to purchase this watarnry but wasn’t sure if it covered the battery. So, I checked out the terms and what an eye opener. Good luck to anyone who can get a claim passed this small print. Come on Amazon, is this coverage worth about 25% of the cost of the Kindle with all of these exclusions?Check this out for what IS NOT covered:This service plan protects against operational failure of a covered Product if a failure occurs while connected to a surge protector approved by the Underwriter’s Laboratory. Your surge protector may be collected by Us for examination. This Contract Does Not Cover: A. Any equipment located outside the United States. I completely devoured the Hunger Games books as well – not only is the story amazing but the writing is wonderful. Love.
I just signed on to do some publicity for Lifeway’s new Nehemiah study…Hmmm…wonder if I’m being called to explore that book, too?
Thanks for a great list – you have much to bring you joy!
We listened to the first two Hunger Games books on overnight drives during Christmas. A great way to stay awake! I think I made it a day and a half of being home before I caved and bought Mockingjay for my Kindle and finished it in two days. At 1:30 a.m.
I got a Kindle for Christmas too and I love it!
Oct16A. Dent Review by A. Dent for Rating: This warranty extndes the default warranty coverage to 2 years. Translation: if the Kindle came with a one year warranty, buying it will give you TWO years of total warranty coverage, NOT three. IF, after paying for coverage and reading the terms you don’t agree, you have 60 DAYS to cancel and get your money back. This is a good thing. As far as warranties go, this one is okay. Very much in line with what most electronics warranties provide these days. After (a long) while, you receive the actual contract in the mail and it’s all spell out on one page, on the back of the certificate of coverage’. Going through the legalese, this is what gets covered and how.- The amount of coverage is limited to the amount you paid to purchase the product (minus shipping and taxes)- You are covered for operational and accidental damage but not covered if you abuse your Kindle.- They will fix and replace your broken Kindle and your replacement may be a refurbished model or a newer model or you may receive your money back’ if they can’t do either.- If your Kindle breaks three times you get a replacement and coverage ends at that time.- There can be only ONE replacement under the plan (see above). In addition, you will not be covered if:- your dog (animals) or insects damaged your product- it was stolen- it mysteriously disappeared- you were in a war zone- you were outside the US- you used your Kindle in ways not intended or your modified itThe plan does not cover scratches, cracks or any other cosmetic issues for as long as your Kindle keeps working. As far as service is concerned. Once you contact the provider, they will ship you a replacement Kindle if yours stopped working without waiting for you to send them the damaged item. They will take your credit card number and ship you the replacement and a prepaid postage label you to use with the return. For as long as you send the broken Kindle within 30 days, they will not charge your credit card. If you don’t, you WILL be charged for the replacement. My only issue, as other reviewers noted was their slowness to actually acknowledge the transaction after I purchased the warranty through Amazon. Eventually, I received an email assuring me that the warranty was in effect and a few days later the paper contract arrived in the mail so all is okay now.I would rate this plan as good’ because it’s backed by Amazon, they will ship a replacement without waiting for your broken Kindle and because they clearly spell out the warranty terms on a one-page contract. It’s 4 stars, mainly for the initial hassle.

HA! Funny coincidence, I wrote my TTT last week (about my Kindle)! π
I will have to check those books out. I had finished book one of a certain popular vampire series which shall remain nameless, before I found it was YA fiction, too. π
When I started praying that Peeta and Katniss would be okay, I knew that I had gone slightly crazy!!! π
LOL! I feel the same way!!

I bought a Kindle Fire as a late birthday present with a gift card and some money I received. I LOVE it! I love the touch screen. I also am in love with a Bible app called YouVersion, which I don’t know how I ever lived without. I use it in my devotions and Bible studies because I can hop back and forth between translations, and I have been using it as my Bible at church. I never thought I would use it at church as my Bible, but I find it to be much lighter to carry and easier to stay focused on the specific text being taught from.
I have YouVersion on my phone. I need to play with it more!
a
I love YouVersion too! I use it on my iTouch and my daily reading has become so much more consistent because of it. I also use the bookmarks feature a lot and find verses coming back to me that way when I think I’m looking for something else :).
I ADORE my Kindle! I’ve had him since last Spring and never thought I would enjoy reading ebooks as much as a hardback book, but it’s so much better! I got both my sons Kindle Fires for Christmas, since they can download their textbooks to them and not carry around overloaded backpacks
I’m loving the kindle app on my new tablet. so fun!
Oh my WORD – I like NEEEEEEEED that window cling! Amen.
I’ve got an extra one. Send me your snail mail. I’ll send it to you! π

Oct16K. Dallager Review by K. Dallager for Rating: I gave Service Net Warranty Solutions a 2-star rating besauce it took 9 days before they even shipped my 2-year Extended Warranty document and then it arrived 5 days late. When I contacted them they were prompt but they couldn’t be bothered to spell my name right even though it was clearly spelled properly in my e-mail to them. The only reason they salvaged the 2-star rating is besauce they gave prompt e-mail service when I made my complaint. Actually, my first e-mail requested an update on where my Warranty Document was and I wasn’t considering requesting a refund, but when they spelled my name wrong in the response I decided a company that can’t manage the basics of quality service doesn’t deserve my business especially when their product is a service. Basically I didn’t trust them to provide quality assistance if something actually happens to my Kindle. I would encourage buyers to research other warranty options and not even consider Service Net.

I LOVED the Hunger Games series. Read them all in like two weeks over Christmas of 2010. Such good, fun reads.
Also, which moustache app did you get?
I think it’s called “Check out My Moustache” but it’s one of those where you get 2 free moustaches and the rest cost $$. But still. It’s fun.
Just finished Mockingjay. Kind of in mourning right now.
a
Oh, Hunger Games. Until this year I taught middle school. It’s better than Twilight. And I taught reading, so that makes me the authority. Movie in March! How could you not love Peeta?
Yes, better than Twilight! But why haven’t I seen Team Peeta shirts around?!
a
I’d love a Team Peeta shirt too. I wasn’t exactly happy with the ending but I totally fell in love with Peeta. And I think Josh Hutcherson is gonna rock that roll.
I love the bumper sticker! What a great phrase!
My hubby lives his kindle. I still prefer to turn pages and my favorite books aren’t available on any e-reader yet. My daughter loved the mustache app. Our girls would enjoy the myriad of craft things… I tend to grimace.
I could comment on so much in your post! Kindles rock. Hunger Games is awesome (especially with a rockin’ Kindle cause you can just get the next one right away even when you finish the first one at 3:00 am). Crazy about the moustache app, which I can’t decide makes me completely immature or just in touch with my inner child. And I love the Nehemiah stickers.
(I hope you are ok with my linkup this week… it’s not a list of ten things, but rather how we ended up living what I was going to write about.)
Kinda wishing I had a Kindle π Thanks for hosting! I may have to check those books out! Love your list, and this idea of Top Ten Tues!
I was looking at that EXACT SAME Kindle cover! Great minds think alike! Too cute! I actually decided to make my own….we will see how that goes!
I am loving all the things you are enjoying lately! I am a new subscriber and also linked up today!
Hope you have a great rest of the week!
Samantha
I too love my Kindle. And the Hunger Games trilogy! I avoided them for awhile, not sure about all the hype and horrified by the premise. But when a friend who has great taste recommend them, I started and couldn’t stop! I borrowed them all on my Kindle (have you discovered ebookfling.com yet?) but now I’m thinking I’ll end up buying them because I want to read them all again. π
The Kindle is wonderful — as for The Hunger Games – they were a minor addiction for me about a year ago! Very good books, and I wonder how the movie will compare this spring??
Crafting with a daughter can be so much fun… mine has rekindled my passion for knitting this week, so that’s what I’ve been enjoying!
have a wonderful weekend!
I have also been enjoying The Hunger Games and don’t want to do anything else but read it. I’m a super slow reader so I’m still on the first book. I’m asking for the other two for my birthday π
Save up another 100 and you can get a really good brand
