I usually send out Christmas cards around December 23rd. But last year I was so good and had them doneΒ in like October. And I was hoping to continue that trend.
But today I’m finally home from Disney World and just realized that I have about 3 Christmas parties to go to THIS WEEK, about 4 guest posts to write and oh, I don’t know UNPACK MY SUITCASE and I don’t want to do Christmas cards. I mean, is there really anyone on my list that doesn’t see me Facebook, tweet or blog 8billion times a day? I think I’m a little bit of an over-share-er. I highly doubt anyone would be surprised by anything in a newsy newsletter from me.
This is coupled with the fact that while at Disney World, I kept trying to get a good Christmas picture of the 4 of us. And it just didn’t happen. Wanna help me choose one?
This is option #1: the one where Asa stares at Minnie’s hands and says, “Why is she wearing gloves if it’s not snowing?” (True story.)
Or maybe this one where Asa and Lydia were both so terrified of Woody and Buzz that they had to move to the very back of the room while we moved to the very front and tried to hold the kids so they wouldn’t bolt out of the room…
Or maybe one of these where Asa isn’t looking at the camera AT ALL…
I’m actually leaning towards this one…
Because at least Asa is looking at the camera. Albeit with tired eyes. It’s not like it’s Day 5 of 10-hour days at the parks and we made him get out of his stroller at 8:00 at night to get a picture or anything.
So, whaddya think? Christmas cards or no?

I just declared it a no card year. Between the 5 week old, 2.5 yo and 4 yo, pictures aren’t happening…
Cross over to the dark side, Amanda. Say no to the cards. π

You have an excellent excuse, Sarah! I may join you…

That last one is so cute! π
Yeah, I’m waffling on cards this year. I actually got a nice photo collage together, bought the cards, the photo paper, the stamps. I’m just very…unmotivated…to assemble, address, etc.

Send all of your relatives a link to this post. π
I like the one of you all in front of the tree (even though it looks like there is a random security guard in background – could crop him out).

Love the pictures! I was feeling exactly the same way. And then I read your blog post about top ten Christmas card ideas- and fell in love with the “brown paper package” one. So, guess what I’m doing?
Just got 100 pictures printed today, picked them up and they are blurry! UGH!!!
Whatever you decide, I’m sure they will be great. π

Hi Boys .and AnneVery much looking foarwrd to having you down here at Bordertown. Given a half decent evening weather wise this show will pull a hell of a crowd. We have a nice PA set up and an operator who, while he (Mick) is a bit of a different cat , he eats and breathes PA’s (probably needs to get out more)Don’t know how much of a sound check you need i think the Sambucas are doing theirs at about 3 pm. Anything you need just drop me a line, I’ll make sure you are fed and watered and that the local farmers daughters are made aware of your rock star ways!!!See you then Bob.

I like Christmas cards – I don’t worry about writing out a newsy letter or making sure I have a perfect photo to go with it, but I like to pick out pretty cards and sit and write a little message in each… I like that for just a couple of minutes I’m thinking of sending good wishes to someone special – like writing a personal email.
Have just finished posting mine π

PS. I like the last 2 photos π

I was not the only customer who felt the pcurode was over-watered. HE told ME that customers tell him vitamins and minerals are washed away with water. That’s what I’ve said to your employees for years. Some literally water it like a yard in summer, talking to customers and not paying attention. He told me to say something. I said I’ve talked to employees, emailed, left notes til I realized NO ONE WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.Water should never be dripping off greens. I’ve set them in my cart and they are still wet when I check out, nearly an hour later.I wonder if the pcurode personnel actually ever eat a salad or use fresh veggies in any capacity?I told him I buy most of my pcurode at the farmer’s markets where the pcurode is out in the fresh air for HOURS and NEVER SPRAYED with WATER.Farmer’s market pcurode lasts for many days longer than the Co-Op’s. I am single, money always tight, and I see no reason why the Co-Op, like other stores, insist on drenching greens!Have you looked at green onions, spinach, beet greens? I won’t buy green onions at the Co-Op cos they should last a week, but usually many of the green part are already wilting.I had to put ALL my greens in various colanders for over an hour at home. I had to wipe my beets with paper towels and set out to dry too. I can’t get as much organic pcurode at my local farmer’s market. So once a week I venture to the Co-Op. I make juices and rather use organic. I just don’t know what to do. I want to support the Co-Op, but what about helping those of us who really want fresh organic veggies to last longer, but can’t because your employees insist on over-watering.So sad, but think how many other customers buy at the outdoor farmer’s markets instead of the Co-Op? You are losing money.Do you care? I do . . .

I say do Christmas cards. I’m in the midst of planning a wedding, training my replacement at my job and moving states, all while Christmas is fast approaching. I’m doing cards because I know how much I love getting a card with a picture, not just a name signed. Anyway, that’s just me. You could always declare it a no card year and next year, people will be thrilled to hear from you.

Do ’em! But just because I’m hoping I get one and I love mail with one of the cutest families I know on it. I’m trying to get mine done, too, but it may be the 23rd for me this year.

I quit christmas cards this year. π but that last one is great–if you choose to do one. also, I like the woody and buzz one!

“I quit Christmas cards”. That sounds like a blog post title.

I like the picture in front of the Tree of life, and the last one. I think everyone understands how hard it is to photograph kids, so we don’t get picky when someone isn’t looking directly at the camera. I’ve procrastinated this year and just bought a couple of packages at Target. Now all I need is the motivation to do something with them!

Hi Lisa, I truly wish you the best in all your future eneorvdas. Whenever I was at a crossroad and trying to make a decision, my very wise grandmother would say: You can stay back in ease and comfort or move forward to growth. Although we (the QVC viewers) will miss seeing you, I am so happy you have chosen to move forward. A year and a half ago, I left my job of nine years to accept a more challenging position. At first I worried that I had made the wrong decision afterall this new position was much more difficult and required me to learn new things. However, this challenge was just the thing I needed to inject new passion into my career.I commend you for taking that leap of faith. It is not easy to leave a comfortable position, especially in a difficult job market and sluggish economy. Best of luck with all of your future projects. I hope to meet you at your book signing.

I actually love the non-perfect photos – it’s like life – we aren’t perfect but we pretend we have it altogether. I’d “keep it real”!
This year when trying to pick my photo to digi-scrap into a card I struggled as in each one someone was looking away etc – in the end I put in 3 pics so everyone looks ok in at least one. Shared it on my blog a few days ago.
Whatever you decide your friends and family will understand – I agree with one commenter – send them the link to this post – then tell them they can choose which photo they would have LIKED to receive – a “pick your own card” this year π

Hey I love the Co-op I can get things there I can’t find ahrenwye else and your staff is so knowledgeable and friendly I have been able to fix a lot of physical problems before they became chronic we all have to learn to maintain our health ourselves and the co-op really helps us do that. However can you re-stripe your parking lot? If you angled the spaces instead of having cars back into each other, it would help so much getting in and out. You could have entry on each side in the direction of the parking space. Please help me take care of my car as well as my body when I shop at the co-op. Happy Holidays

Hmm it appears like your site ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any tips and hints for newbie blog writers? I’d really appreciate it.
