Remember {Five Minute Friday}

source: poppy thomas hill

I love to remember.

I love looking through old photos, reading old letters and finding my old camp t-shirts.

But sometimes remembering hurts.

I remember my foolishness, my can’t-put-them-back-in-my-mouth words and the feelings I’ve hurt.

Remembering can remind me of my true self: a sinner of the first degree.

Then I remember something else:

God doesn’t remember.

When I come to Him with regret and remorse, He turns to me with redemption.

He takes my sins and flings them as far as the east is from the west. And He remembers them…no more.

The pops-up-at-the-worst-times guilt isn’t a constant companion. Or he doesn’t have to be. We can choose to see us God does, through the eyes of forgiveness.

He forgives us. We can forgive ourselves.

And remember our sins…no more.

What freedom remembering does. Remembering who God is. How He loves us. And what He is willing to do for us!

Today, I remember, that God forgets.

“He forgives us. We can forgive ourselves.” That last part is so simple because of the first part, and yet so hard.

    Great five minutes!

    Hi Amanda,
I saw you at Relevant (now I recognize you from your super cute short hair), but we didn’t cross paths. Maybe next time? Anyway, just wanted to say that I love your realization here: that God doesn’t remember; that He forgets. That’s a really cool way to look at grace.

That is awesome. As weird as it sounds with talking about forgetting too, thank you for the reminder. I love how the feelings of hope just overflowed the feelings of regret. Thank you.

I just happened to come across this post … it is beautiful, Amanda. It is hard to remember that God’s grace is upon us at all times and that our sins are forgiven; though we ought not to repeat and to change for Him.

I write a comment whenever I appreciate a post on a site or if I have something to contribute to the discussion. It is a result of the sincerness communicated in the article I read. And after this article Remember | ohamanda.com. I was excited enough to post a leave a responsea response πŸ˜‰ I actually do have some questions for you if you don’t mind. Could it be only me or do some of the responses come across like left by brain dead individuals? πŸ˜› And, if you are posting on additional online sites, I would like to follow you. Would you make a list the complete urls of your shared pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?

mojojojo July 28, 2011 I’ve read Kate’s blog periodically and I find her hurumoos. So the following is not meant to be nasty or cruel at all. Just objective Kate, you better get a good hobby that you really enjoy (if you don’t already have one). And maybe a long-life breed of cat or a dog, too. Cuz chances are, you’re going to remain single.Believe me, I know. As a midlifer I’ve got quite a few friends (guys admittedly) that are very much like you This one’s too old (& creepy) This one’s too young (& virgin) This one’s too short (& lumpy) This one’s too tall (& skinny) This one’s too naked (& spontaneous) This one’s too PERFECT (& perfect) And they’re all STILL single. And will likely stay that way. Which is OK, if that’s what you really want. Not my business. But I’m just sayin’.If I weren’t off the market, I’d be happy to date you, if only to see what horror story you’d write about me. (I figure somewhere in the world there’s always a woman telling horror stories about me. Most often my wife )Good luck!

I tend not to leave a response, but after looking at a few of the remarks on Remember | ohamanda.com. I do have 2 questions for you if it’s allright. Is it only me or do a few of the responses come across like they are written by brain dead folks? πŸ˜› And, if you are posting on additional sites, I’d like to follow anything fresh you have to post. Would you post a list of the complete urls of all your public sites like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
