Veggie Tales & World Vision

We had SO much fun at the Veggie Tales World Vision Twitter party! I hope you were able to chat with us. We talked about the real meaning of Easter, our favorite Silly Songs and of course, child sponsorship. We gave away prizes but a few people said they felt like everyone won because of the great conversation! Truly, it was a blast!

Here are some of my favorite tweets from the party…now you can feel like you were there!

1. The theme of the new Veggie Tales DVD, Twas the Night Before Easter is about helping others…based on Jesus’ servant attitude show in Matthew 20:28. We asked how we can teach our kids to serve others. I love this attitude and idea from Muthering Heights…

2 & 3. Halfway through the party Mike Nawrocki, co-founder and all around head guy at Big Idea AND the voice of Larry the Cucumber joined us to asnwer the questions as @larrythecuke. Here’s my favorite question and answer…

4, 5 & 6. We talked a lot about child sponsorship. We asked how child sponsorship has changed them, their children or their family. I love these tweets about it…

7. ‘Twas the Night Before Easter is hilarious (in fact, my kids are watching it as I type this and I’m laughing out loud!)

8. Continuing about child sponsorship, Vanderbilt Wife had a great idea for people still struggling with the money part of child sponsorship:

9.We also had some great conversation about how to teach kids about the REAL meaning of Easter. There was talk of Resurrection Eggs and I may have mentioned a few of Impress Your Kids good Easter ideas. {see the sidebar for all our Easter posts!} Here’s a link for some more great ideas from Ashley:

  11. I just tweeted and I already follow yall. We so love Veggies in our house, I am trying to get all the dvds and cds. My son is actually having a Veggie party next month.

  16. We love Veggie Tales..even my husband & I enjoy watching them with the kids! We have lots of fave characters at our house…Bob the Tomato, Madame Blueberry (the kids love her accent), Junior Asparagus & more.

  28. I have loved Veggie Tales since waaaaay back before we had kids. If I had to pick a favorite character, it would be Larry.

  35. I wanted to be there but had to work…I looked into World Vision and we talked about sponsoring a child as a family and we are going to do it! I’m so excited for this…I can’t think of a better way to bring the needs of the impoverished into our home and show our four-year old how she can serve the Lord in this way! Thanks for sharing this!

  36. Yes, we love Veggie Tales…I really like Sweet Pea Beauty and Queen Esther…can you tell I have a girl? But when my 18 mo. old son gets older, I’m sure we’ll be checking out some of the more boyish ones. 🙂

  37. Oooh ooh ooh, I wanna win, pick me, pick me! We are huge Veggie Tales fans here, but don’t own any of the DVDs. Anyway… I don’t have a fave character, but my fave movie is Jonah (“Jonah was a prophet *ooh ooh* but he never really got it *sad but true*”). Thanks!
