Veggie Tales: Happy Together

We got a new TV. It’s one of those big flat screen thingies that you hang on the wall. It is pretty impressive. Since we’ve had our old TV (the only one we have in our house) for over 12 years we thought it was time to upgrade!

The very first thing we broke out on our new TV was a new DVD. Veggie Tales’ new compilation DVD called Happy Together. It’s basically just 3 past episodes–Sheerluck Holmes, Esther and Grapes of Wrath. (I love the Grapes of Wrath song, it cracks me up!) So, it’s a themed DVD focusing on faith, family and friendship! (How great would that be for the Letter F?)

What’s fun about this (and makes it better than just a little compilation) is that there is a cartoon woven throughout the show where real kids are interviewed but they are veggies. Wait, that’s not right. Real veggies are interviewed, but they are actually kids. The point is–kids were interviewed and now look like veggies. *sigh* You’ll just have to see it to understand it!

My kids wanted to watch all 80 minutes of it at once. Instead, we just watched one section (oh, and a silly song, too! I forgot there are silly songs on it!) and the kids were ecstatic that the scripture for Sheerluck Holmes was Proverbs 17:17–their Dragon and Turtle verse!

What makes me happy is hearing my kids be polite with others. It lets me know that they have heard what I’ve told them and it’s sinking in.

When my son (is 5) jumps into the car on Sunday after Church and shares his Sunday school activities then tells us his Bible verse for the week. Yes he does tell it to us everyday so we know he remembers it. I Praise the Lord for my Blessing and he makes me happy

I am happy when I can step away from the situation and see that my family gets it! They need Christ forever not just for my season. My children’s ages range from 21 to 6 years plus a 9 month old “grand”daughter. We have wonderful memories that include VEGGIE TALES! Thanks for everything along the journey.

I love the comment my almost 4 year old grandson told his mom when she kissed him and it looked like he was rubbing it off. His mom said, “Why are you rubbing my kiss of?”, and he said, “I’m not rubbing it off, I’m rubbing it in.” How precious is that!

Listening to a prayer my three year old began with no prompting makes me happy. S sweet that he is learning the power of prayer so early!

Amanda, in response to your question, can say that your blog does? :0)

As a parent of a now precious eight-year old, I’ve always enjoyed and appreciated your blogs..they’ve helped me to know that being a parent is a learning process and that God is the most important resource we have to help our kids. I was touched by the way your blogs began and I know countless other have been blessed by them as well!

Just last night, my daughter Kayla had a few of her friends over to make some homemade pizzas..we were all having so much fun tossing dough and flour around..short to say making them was the best part! After dinner, they played for a bit and then Kayla asked me to put on a movie for them. When I asked her which one she wanted she said “Esther” from Veggie Tales. Of all the animated films available for kids today, she still loves those Veggies and I know I do as well!

When I saw your post today, I just had to share how much we appreciate your online ministry and to share our special moment yesterday with you and all your blog readers.. Thank You Amanda!!! :0)

Our family has been very passionate about raising our daughter for the Lord, so your investment to help all the parents like us is simply invaluable!

What makes me the happiest is when everything that could go wrong, has and my little one just knows that Mama is sad or tired and he comes over and gives the biggest hug and kiss. Somehow it makes it all worth it.
