newly five
Every birthday we wake up the birthday person with gifts and cards. Every morning I’ve snapped pictures of Lydia in her pajamas. (Except her first year! I can’t find those anywhere! *sniff*) And every year I’m amazed that she’s another year older. I hope I can always capture the first few minutes of her new year. Maybe at 14 she won’t like it, but I’ll love seeing her innocent early morning face. And comparing it to the year before. To see the growth and development. To see the memories of the previous years—even things she’ll never remember but I will treasure.
one, two, three, four
Today Lydia is dressed in a new outfit, we’re going to eat lunch with Daddy and then go to the movies to see Tangled* (for the 3rd time!). She’s having a big “Golden Hair” party on Saturday in honor of her Golden Birthday (5 on the 5th!) and her new favorite princess with the Golden Hair. (I can’t wait to tell you all about it–it’s going to be so fun!)
What special traditions do you have for your birthday child?

Happy birthday to Lydia! (and happy mommy birthday to you!)
I love the golden birthday idea with the Tangled theme! (That really is such a great movie!)
I just have to share that I have a special place in my heart for little girls named Lydia that were born in January! My daughter is a Lydia too and she will be 2 on the 28th of January! I must say, as soon as I saw what your daughter’s name was when I first started reading your blog I felt even more connected! Cheesy I know but it’s true! 🙂
Have a blessed day!
So sweet! I agree…I always think someone who names their kid the same as mine must be similar to me in some way! 🙂
HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY, Lydia!!! What a wonderful day! Big hugs from Elias and Donovan and your friends in Richmond, VA!!!
OOh I love the idea of taking a picture at the same time each day! We eat birthday donuts for breakfast 🙂 The birthday person gets candles in their donuts!
Happy Birthday to Lydia! I love your idea of taking a pic first thing every birthday morning…maybe I’ll start that at year 5…it’s never too late, right? Have fun watching Tangled again…such a fun movie!
I always try to take a picture with Juliet wearing a “Happy New Year” hat–this year I took one with both the girls wearing one together. 🙂 hooray for sisters.
This is such a neat tradition. I love it!
