Last Mother’s Day I was pregnant. I had a 2 year old. And I don’t think I got one Mother’s Day present. I remember I planned lunch for my mom and got her gifts. I also had dinner to honor my mother-in-law…where she also got gifts from me. I’m pretty sure that my daughter had no idea I was a mother.
I’m not complaining…well, maybe just a little. I want to honor Mama. I want my daughter to honor her grandmothers! But this crazy busy-ness FOR moms that surrounds Mother’s Day is exactly why Maria Bailey decided to do a National Mom’s Nite Out. I got to hear straight from her mouth and heart this weekend (while I was at Disney…) why she decided to do this event. She recognizes that moms are hard-workers. She wanted to set a day apart for them that is actually FOR THEM. A day to leave the kids, the hubby, the dinner, the dishes and the laundry and just do something FUN. Maria even paid for the whole Moms Nite Out website out of her own pocket. She just feels that strongly about it!
There are like 900 parties around the country with lots of great sponsors (Little Debbie being one of my fave!) and prizes. Mandi and I tried to get an Atlanta party going about 3 days before I left for Disney but we just couldn’t do it right. Instead, we’ll be attending the twitter parties tonight with thousands of other moms. So, moms, take some time out for yourself tonight and join the party!
And next year? Watch out Atlanta—the Sisterchick Moms Nite Out Party will be rockin’!
ps—it all starts at 3pm today with a twitter party and the big reveal of MOMTV.com!

Arghhh!
Thanks for info.
Oooh can we come next year too? Great idea Lx
If there’s not a Birmingham party next year, I may be heading to the A T L!
