“Too tight! Too tight! TOOOO TIIIIIGHT!” This is what Lydia screams every time I buckle her into her carseat. She hates it being tight around her shoulders. And sometimes I acquiesce. Sometimes I pull the release lever just so she’ll stop whining.
BUT WHAT IF?
What if we got in an accident and her seat belt wasn’t strapped correctly?
What if I pulled out too quickly? Or was talking on the phone? Or *gasp* texting?
WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENED?
I would never forgive myself for caving. For preferring silence to safety.
Did you know motor vehicle injuries are the leading cause of death among children in the U.S? That is so frightening! Evenflo decided to help get the word out and help keep kids safe on the road. So, they created A Mother’s Promise” a facebook community. There are some moving videos, helpful information and a place for you to make a public promise to your kids. I made mine! Go check it out and make a promise to keep your kids safe!

My youngest does this too. We just pretend to loosen it and she always buys it and stops whining. You should see if that will work for you. Lying is the cornerstone of good parenting.
