Scrapbooking Comes But Once A Year

When I got married, my friends gave me a scrapbooking shower. Everyone came bearing old pictures, each person made a page and I got to keep it all! I loved it!! Not only was it the sweetest gift ever, I just KNEW I was going to be a scrapbooker. And this was even before all the take-a-small-loan-out embellishments and papers were available.

I did scrap our honeymoon beautifully. I half-scrapped a ski trip we went on a year later. And then…nothing. Oh, I bought scrapbooking supplies. I have paper. I have scissors. I have stickers. But nothing even resembling a finished scrapbook page. I just can’t do it. You need time. You need space. And you need stuff. I apparently have none of those.

So, I have come up with the most BRILLIANT solution of all times. (OK, maybe not the MOST brilliant. But it totally works for me!) I started a Christmas scrapbook. And…are you ready for this…

I ONLY SCRAP ONE PAGE PER YEAR.

My aunt gave me a Christmas scrapbook a few years ago and it stayed empty up until last year. I gathered a few pictures from every Christmas since we’ve been married. I put a few pictures on, our Christmas card (if we did it) and wrote a few notes on where we were and what we did that year. THAT’S IT!

Now I take it out at Christmas and we can look back at our Christmases past. Here’s a few pages so you see what I mean. You’ll also be able to see the evolution of my hair. From long to much much cuter…

Here’s our 2nd Christmas. You can see some Christmas cards sticking out from behind the red paper.

And our first Christmas in Orlando. Notice my SANDALS and CAPRIS. *sigh*

And one of the few 2 page spreads…notice the cute hair…

I love this! It’s the best way to scrapbook because I only buy Christmas scrapbooking stuff. Christmas can basically be told in one or two pictures, we have a Christmas card to tell the details of the rest of the year PLUS, it’s a fun book to take out every Christmas. It’s my new favorite tradition. Of course, since I only started this last year, I’m only on 2005 but I’ll get it done this year. I promise hope!

LOVE this – I fear I am way too “into” scrapbooking though to do it. I enjoy scrapping, but it’s gotten to the point where it just stresses me out because I’m always behind. I’m going to give your idea seriously consideration. Thanks!

great pages and a great idea for people who don’t scrap on a regular basis, I love scrapbooking and have a whole corner of my dining room devoted to this hobby so I have no problem in this area.

Great idea! I tried scrap booking… once. I think I got two pages done, for Emily. Like you said, it takes up to much time, lol.

great idea!!! if i were a scrapbooker, or someone who wanted to, then this would be the way to go! however, i blog, so I don’t need another unfinished ‘project’ always looming overhead. 🙂

I love this! My favorite picture album is the one mom put together of all our Christmases past – and it’s not even really scrapbooked – just all put together in a photo album. This is something you’ll treasure for years!

I “scrap”, too… I have ALL the supplies, and I even have a scrapbooking day available to me once a month – if I could find something to do with the kids. sigh…. It was perfect until D started crawling… now I have to wait another 2 years or so before I can start back up again.

LOVE this idea!! i am so NOT a scrapbooker. But I could totally handle a once/year project. I think.

    Thanks for sharing!

Great idea! I’ve done something similar and I scrapped all the Christmas pix we got in Christmas cards from our friends and family. Its fun to look back and see how everyone has changed.

This is such a good idea! I really love scrapbooking, but who the heck has the time? This working mom definitely does not! I done two albums… our wedding and my daughter’s first year of life… and no more since then. Now I think over my Christmas break I will gather our old pictures and start our Christmas scrapbook! yay! I’m excited! Maybe I’ll even blog about it… if I ever find the time and energy to do that again. haha I need about 48 hours in my day instead of 24.

Love it! This is exactly what I did for Mandi for Evan’s 2nd b-day. You and I both know what an avid scrapper she is, but having just to do 1-2 pages a year about his b-day party would be better than trying to keep up with every little event like the big time scrappers do. I didn’t exactly see it make an appearance at his 3rd birthday, so I might need to get back on it for her 🙂

Awesome! I might just have to steal this idea! I dabble in the scrapping, myself. I have tons of stuff. I forewent the traditional baby book for Woggie ’cause I was going to scrap it. Well, I got 2 pages complete…

I wish I could get into scrapping. I love to take the pics, but hate organizing them. This idea would be something easier to tackle tho.

Good idea if you can’t find the time to scrap.

I love it too much though! Maybe it would be done monthly, with 12 pages for the year?

    🙂

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

Your post was very insightful. I really appreciate you taking your time out to write this wonderful post. I have a blog as well that writes about IMEI Check. Do you know what it is?

I simply had to thank you so much once more. I am not sure the things I would’ve done without the entire ways shared by you directly on such a problem. Previously it was a very horrifying matter in my position, but encountering this specialized way you resolved the issue made me to leap for contentment. Now i am happy for your guidance as well as sincerely hope you realize what a great job you happen to be carrying out instructing the rest via a site. Probably you have never got to know all of us.

I together with my buddies appeared to be studying the excellent pointers found on your site and then immediately I had a horrible suspicion I never thanked the site owner for those techniques. My men ended up passionate to see them and already have very much been taking advantage of these things. We appreciate you actually being well considerate and for opting for this form of superb issues most people are really eager to be aware of. My personal honest apologies for not expressing gratitude to sooner.
