Pamper-ed

When I first started blogging, back in the dark ages…you know, like a year ago, I noticed something very suh-weet! Some bloggers were being given products to try out for FREE and then they’d review it on their blog.

I think the first one I ever saw was on Shannon‘s blog and it was about a Swiffer. I was blown away that companies were paying attention to bloggers! How cool to get a free Swiffer?

Does that show how much of a sahm I am?

(Well, maybe it’s just the free stuff. When I was in college, I sent off for every free sample I could find. I’d have every shampoo and coupon and lipgloss out there. That’s basically what I used the internet for–to find free stuff. Whatever.)

OK, back to blogging. I’ve been contacted a few times for product reviews. If you’ve been around even a couple of days, you know I do book reviews. I don’t know how I got hooked up with them, but I love getting free books to review! I even got some dish washing soap and some Pampers for free once!

I mean, I’m sure the total value of my free products is about $75 but still, it’s a nice gig!

Recently, I got hooked up with a PR company that wants to give me a little more than a diaper and some soap. They want to take me all the way to Cincinnati, Ohio! That’s right, I’m going to a bloggy meet-up! Oh, for which company you ask?

Oh, just a tiny little one you may have heard of…

Proctor & Gamble.

Yeah, they make Pampers! Apparently we (the 15 influential mommy bloggers) are going to get shown around the P&G (that’s what I call them…) headquarters, meet some big wigs and generally giggle and gush over being in a big group of bloggers!

Well, I’m sure it’s a little more than that. Pampers wants to, you know talk to us and educate us on their dedication to moms & babies. And show off a little, I’m sure!

So. Any Pampers fans in the house? Do you want me to tell them anything? Find out any new scoop? Or should I just snag as many diapers as I can?*

Seriously, I’m getting kind of nervous. What do I wear? What if I don’t know any of the other bloggers? Worse, what if they don’t know me?! How does a sahm talk to an executive? Will I really be able to offer anything of value to PAMPERS? And good grief, who do I need to tip?

So, it’s not Disney (still green, Jo-Lynne) but a nice gig, right?!

*uhm, we ran out of diapers last night.
Lydia’s been daytime potty trained for months.
But I just haven’t tackled the overnight thing yet.
So, I figured it was perfect timing.
DID. NOT. GO. WELL.
Advice appreciated.

I would always stop fluids about 1-2 hours before bedtime. Then I’d take them potty just before their bedtime and then just before I went to bed. They’d be sleepy, but I sit them on the potty, letting them lean against me and softly tell them, “Go potty. Go Potty.” If they don’t start going after a little bit, I’d try to make the sound of running water in their ear or I’d turn on the sink water. Hope this helps.

How fun! Can you ask them to puh-lease, pretty puh-lease, make friends with Costco so I can buy Pampers there again. I switched to Huggies only cause that’s where I buy diapers. I so wish I could buy Pampers there again.

As for the night time potty training…good luck with that! I have no advice on that one, I’m afraid!

Congratulations!! I only used Pampers with both of my kids. We did try another brand with Dylan, but after leak after leak we went back to Pampers and never looked back. Have fun!!

Fun!! I bet you will have an awesome time. I heart pampers!! Every other brand we tried leaked with our son…I will pay for pampers anyday b/c of the quality & I use 5-6 a day instead of 8-9. 🙂

My only suggestion for night time is to cut off liquids like other have said. Make sure she goes potty right before bed. Some kids may also need a trip in the middle of the night since their little bladders are still developing. I know my son had a few accidents at night here and there.

Congrats on the P&G trip. We are a Pampers family here as well 🙂

Wow, you are famous, and I’m so honored to say that I *know* you. How exciting. You are the coolest! As for the potty training, no advice from me. We aren’t even lunchtime trained, forget daytime. Nighttimes are a pee-for all. Good luck!!!

That is so awesome!!! What a neat opportunity. And I can’t help but think Ohio is at least a couple hours closer to me than you usually are. You won’t be detouring through PA, will you?

I’m not sure the folks at Pampers would like me much. I’ve been saying for years that Pull-ups are a conspriacy to keep kids in diapers until they’re four and make Pampers more money (and I believe it, too!)

Oh, but don’t tell them I said that. Just snag me some freebies, yes, please! Any size is fine. It’ll fit somebody 🙂

wow! How very cool! How in the world do you get to do things like that?! I’m not even savvy enough to get free books. hmmm You need to give me the 411 on free stuff. I need to be educated. 🙂 Have fun!

  26. Candace says

So cool! Jealous, party of one, over here. And as for pampers, I reviewed them on my site too and Conner ALWAYS leaks in them. Never fails. Oh, and they smell weird when the urine mixes with the talc in the lining. Gag!

  27. Stephanie says

    July 22, 2008 at 8:28 pm

That’s amazing! I’m with Dolly – tell them to get back in with Costco. I now go to BJs for my Pampers, which are the BEST! I switch back and forth between the Baby Dry and the Cruisers for my big boy, and I like them both now that Baby Dry has stretchy stuff.

As for nightime… layers: matress pad/sheet, matress pad/sheet. That way you can wash her down and put her back in her own bed. However, Livi just had an accident the other night because she forgot to go before she got in the bed, so don’t be surprised if it lingers for a while!

  28. Erin says

    July 23, 2008 at 3:51 pm

Very cool! I heard they were raising prices on several items, Pampers being one of them. Please tell them how sad we are 🙁

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

I comment when I appreciate a article on a website or if I have something to add to the conversation. Usually it is caused by the sincerness displayed in the article I looked at. And on this post Pamper-ed | ohamanda.com. I was actually moved enough to post a thought 😛 I do have 2 questions for you if you usually do not mind. Could it be only me or does it look like a few of these comments appear like they are coming from brain dead individuals? 😛 And, if you are writing at additional sites, I would like to keep up with everything new you have to post. Could you list the complete urls of all your shared sites like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
