Not Sure What Day It Is?

Just read my post. You’ll always know it’s Monday around here because I post about absolute nonsense.

For example, yesterday I marked all my bloglined blogs as “read”. Like I read them. Even though I didn’t. Even though I’m not going to catch up on many of my friend’s blogs, even tho’ they regularly read and comment here. I was just so behind and I haven’t been feeling very bloggy lately. And those little bloglines were nagging me. (Is that enough excuses?)

Camp Rocks started yesterday. Les and I helped drive the kids to camp again. It’s funny now that I’ve been blogging over a year, my posts are starting to be the same as the year before. (With the exception of Mondays that are the same EVERY week.) Lydia, however, was quite changed. She is usually very shy with strangers. But she was SO EXCITED about having some kids ride in her car. In fact, she didn’t want to go to church because she wanted to pick the kids up first. She talked the entire time and called the girls by their first names. It was the cutest.

Remember my theology post? And remember I was going to post a Part 2? Well, I don’t think I can do it. I don’t like it when Christians argue. Even nicely. There’s enough stupid stuff in the world, I don’t want to contribute to having Christians get uptight about JESUS, you know? I don’t know, I can’t really talk about it more articulately. I’ve tried to write a Part 2 and it feels weird. So, maybe one day. But right now you’ll just have to read between the lines. I guess I’m a wimp.

I’ve also been thinking about blogging. You know Blogher is coming up soon. And SheSpeaks. Last year when this stuff rolled around, I was a new blogger. I couldn’t imagine going to a conference about blogging. Now, I can. But I’ve also been contemplating if I want to go there. Being a “real” blogger requires a lot of time and attention. There’s lots of networking to do. Lots of proofreading. Lots of attention and scheduling. So, even though I’d like to see my “audience” expand daily, I kinda like the idea that my blog can go through ebbs and flows. It’s not stressful.

Wow, I sound really serious today don’t I? It’s only 8:30 so I guess I’m still sleepy. I had 2 bad dreams last night (one had to do with American Idol’s David Cook and me and Lydia falling into some pork and beans. for real.) and whenever that happens, I feel weird the next morning.

Let’s see, let me try to end on an up note. How’s this? At Camp Rocks, the counselors and staff pick a bird name. So, the kids call them Hummingbird or Hawk instead of Mr. Lastname or whatever. (It comes from Elijah and the ravens who ministered to him at the Brook Cherith.)

Anyway, my cousin (the one who graduated last week) is also graduating from the CILT (Campers in Leadership Training Program) this year. His bird name is a little non-traditional…he’s a drummer, so his is DRUMSTICK. Get it? Well, I was thinking about ordering this for him:

(click the pic for more yummy felt)

Too much? I thought it would like kinda cute nestled on his sleeping bag. Or maybe he could make it into a necklace. Whad’ya think?

    adorable. you should…
I totally get what you are saying about Blogging and you are right.
I also get what you are saying about posting a follow up to your testimony. It’s for this reason that I don’t blog a lot about my faith. I have, in the past, and truly nothing good came of it. In fact, I just posted about Division, and it was my most “Faith” focussed post (and that’s loosely) in a long time. Ironically then our pastor, yesterday, spoke on how we are more intent of striving for division, as Christians, then for unity. Odd…

I think you make your beliefs known without a specific post outlining them in detail. Anyone who has taken time to read your blog and visit with you through emails knows that you love God and believe His promises. It amazes me that people will fight for the privilege of limiting God. Oh well.
I forgot about your bird names. I think I said my bird name would have to be big bird 🙂 because I am a head taller than all the other “birds” …
Hope you have a great Monday Amanda!

I think the drumstick idea is cute. You should order it.

You don’t have to post any more theology stuff, if you don’t want to. I know your previous post caused me to think through my own theology, which is a very good thing, and I hope it had that effect on others who read it, too.

I have been trying to plug away at my reader after the craziness that has been my life the past couple of weeks. I only have 114 to go out of the 400 some I started with on Wednesday! I have been thinking about the blogher conferences too and would love to take part, but I’m not quite sure I’m ready either. I am meeting up with a Philly blogger group of Friday which should be fun, but I’m really nervous about that so let alone flying somewhere to meet strangers! Love the drumstick idea…how fun!! Have a great week!

I vote for the necklace. Please take a pic and post it. That would make for some nice Monday filler.

BTW, I completely understand on the theology post. It took me like 30 minutes to hit submit on my comment to that post. 🙂

That’s so weird. I was just thinking about the arguing thing. I was caught in the middle of an argument with another Christian/my best friend. I thought it was really ridiculous. If people are right they shouldn’t have to argue to prove it. People should just be able to see it. Arguments seem so arrogant, and arrogance is just a problem in general. I agree. I’m tired of arguing with Christians. It just gets me irritated.

I think the drumstick is PERFECT and so will he.

Oh Amanda! I hope you know that I was encouraged by your post on theology. Whether I agree 100% or not, who cares? Like I said before- we agree on so much, and I bet we agree on more than we even realize! I’m so happy that you earnestly are seeking to know God more, just as I try to do.

I’m encouraged to see you constantly sharing your life and therefore your faith with the world! I would like to sincerely apologize if my comment in any way felt like an argument or an attack. I would never want to discourage YOU!

I can totally understand though how overwhelming it would be to have people reading, analyzing and commenting on your more specific beliefs. I think though that you did accomplish more good than you even know. I look forward to continuing to read your blog, and seeing your faith lived out (via the internet of course). You are a great light and encouragement.

    Sincerely,
    Erin

I thought it was VERY brave and bold of you to post part of your theology! I was also dismayed when I read the comments.

First of all, it’s your blog. If people don’t like what they read, why comment? Why not just quit reading?

Second, why nit-pick someone regarding their theology? Let’s keep the main thing the main thing. Do you believe that Jesus Christ is your Savior and that He died for your sins and now you can have a personal relationship with God? Yes? Great! Then we’re sisters! That’s the MOST crucial element of theology. Why criticize? I don’t get that.

Anyway, I still applaud you for sharing, and I promise not to trash talk you if (when) you share again.

Welcome!
