1. They Make Up Great Games.
Example: “I’m Going Night Night”
Instructions:
1. Kiss Mommy.
2. Go into Mommy & Daddy’s room. Close door behind you. Lay down in Mommy & Daddy’s bed.
3. Pretend to sleep for 2-3 minutes. Breathe loudly.
4. Wake up.
5. Decide if a)it’s too early to get up because the sun’s not even up yet OR b) let Mommy take a turn sleeping
6. Repeat steps 1-5 for at least 30 minutes.
2. They Understand the Chain of Command
Example: Lydia insists I call her “Princess”. In return, she addresses me as “Queen”. She calls her Daddy…wait for it…”Prince”. All this of her own accord.
Oh my gosh – I love the “Night Night” game. Ours typically goes: “Mommy, tell me to go to sleep.” me: “Go to sleep!” him: “snore snore snore (with eyes open the whole time)” me: “Wake up!” him: “Huh? Where are me? OK, Mommy, now you sleep!”
Tonight our game took a sinister twist. Daddy was “sleeping” and snoring, and Elias turned to me and whispered (which of course he NEVER does in church), “I wake him by tickling?” while making the cutest hand sign for tickling. So apparently now we will all need to be awoken by tickling.
Another fun one is Elias working. He has a tiny little computer, and he sits at it typing away and clicking on the mouse, saying, “Mommy, I’m checking the computer. Hmm, let’s see. Oh, no, it’s not working! I have to work to pay the roof!” (he got that from me one day when he asked me why Daddy had to work – I told him it was to pay for the roof over our heads).
Sorry to hi-jack. I just love this age, too – oh, except for the tantrums. oh yeah.
HILARIOUS! Lydia gets on the computer and says, “I have to check my email!” 😉
bless your ever loving momma heart!
I guess that means she’s going to marry Daddy, if he’s her prince! Too cute!
L-O-V-E I-T!!!!
adorable miss Lydia is.
