A Little Complaining Is In Order **updated**

So, I went to my first OB appointment this week. Yes, I got an ultrasound. No, I don’t have pictures to share. My scanner is completely nutty and refuses to recognize a connection between itself and my computer. Even when I plug them directly together.

The pictures aren’t that hot, more of a blur. But it was fun

to watch our little baby move and squirm around in there. Only two inches tall and already a full little person! God is so amazing.

Well, yesterday I got a phone call from the nurse that said (warning: tmi ahead) we got the results from your urine sample and you have a blahinfectionblahblah, so we need to get your allergies before we call in a prescription.

I called them back to let them know that I am allergic to penicillin. Well, at least twice in my baby/childhood I was allergic to it. So, now I say I am.

No biggie, they issue another long named antibiotic and I go to pick it up. I open the bottle and the pills are HUGE.

You’ve taken ibuprofen, right? You know what it looks like? Well, this pill is at least 5 of those and thicker and pinker. I also have to take it 4 times a day.

The pharmacist cautioned me to take it with food so it doesn’t upset my stomach. I generally do not have upset stomach type stuff, but I still made sure to take it with food.

Well.

Apparently, you have to take it with a whole grocery store in order to not have some stomach problems. Every 30 seconds, I have a wave of pain in my stomach, followed by a feeling of nausea in my throat and mouth, topped off with a headache! ALL. DAY. LONG.

I finally called the nurse today and said, “Please! Isn’t there anything else? Are you sure my urine didn’t get mixed up with someone else’s?” She said, “Well, are you taking it with food?”

Oh my goodness, I still have 20 of these pills to gag down and at least 5 more days of this! Just looking at this full bottle and those monstrosities of a pill, then forcing myself to swallow one four times a day is too much!

I honestly think the flu was better than this.

***updated***

Thanks for the comments, girls! Glad to know I’m not the only one gagging on pills. Well, since I posted this, things have gotten so much better. And by better I mean, NIGHTMARISHLY WORSE! I threw up four times last night and my stomach did not stop waving/churning/stabbing me until 5:30am. What am I supposed to do? I cannot bear the thought of food, much less choking down those pills. I’m staring at a bagel and a glass of water as we speak. UGH.

I’d have to put them in a food processor or something! I’m a wuss when it comes to pills.

Bless your heart! I can’t take large pills either. I have often asked for a liquid. I take it there isn’t a liquid form of your antibiotic.

I feel for you and hope you get through it quickly.

Is it Biaxin by any chance? I took one of them and never did take any more when I had bronchitis because it made me so nauseous. I hate that feeling. Hope you get better soon!

Pills make me sick. Just one tylenol puts me to sleep… I’m such a pill baby too. I have been taking vitamins the last year or two and some are big. I sit and shiver and gag each pill I swallow. Tonight I took a vitamin and Emelia was watching me and just laughed like, “you silly woman acting like a baby!” I’m sorry you have to take nasty pink horse pills and pray that you feel better very soon!

What kind of antibiotic is it? I’m curious now, too. I was on one for a sinus infection when I was nursing and as a matter of fact, I’m on an antibiotic now for another sinus infection. It’s making me super nauseous and unable to eat much. Really not fun AT ALL. So I completely literally feel your pain, sista! Hang in there dear preggie friend!!! I’m probably 6 days ahead of you, so I can sympathize for another 4 days :c)

I’m so sorry that you are feeling so bad! Ugh! I wish I could take the pills for you! (I never seem to have trouble getting them down. I don’t even need water most of the time… Does that make me strange? Maybe..)

I’m soooo sorry… how long do you have to take these things?

Call the doctor back. Get something else. You’re clearly intolerant to whatever they gave you.

(And I do think thin mints help with nausea. Seriously.)

Oh, my dear, I feel so bad for you. I do hope you feel better soon. I HATE taking pills, so I feel tons of sympathy for you.

I feel your pain, I got strep throat early in my pregnancy, when I was still battling with all day sickness, taking a probiotic (yes more pills) everyday helped my stomach and digestive system as a whole.

I would let the doctor know the pills are making you vomit. The medication won’t help your infection at all if you’re body is not absorbing it. There has got to be another alternative – or maybe the doctor could also prescribe an anti-nausea, like phenergan.

I’m sorry you have to take those pills, too. I hope you’ve found something that’s working for ya by now.

Welcome!
