WWWWD?

My Mom, Grandmother, Grandfather, Maternal Grandparents & Great Uncle. 1958.

I love this picture. Isn’t it cozy? I think it’s interesting because if we were having lunch outside, what would we do? We certainly wouldn’t drag out a real table with a real tablecloth, real chairs and a high chair!

Seems like I recall an episode on The Waltons where they had the real table and chairs outside, probably for Mary Ellen’s wedding reception.

Okay, my comment sounded somewhat incomplete and stupid, so let me clarify. I think maybe it was something they did back in the “olden” days. 🙂

This is a great photo and reminds me of the picnics we’d have out in our backyard, too!

We’re more likely to spread out a blanket on the grass and eat PBJ and cheetos. HAHA
That is a great picture. 🙂

I’m noticing that your mom and grandmother didn’t bother to stop eating for the picture. I’d love to know what was so yummy. Probably fried chicken.

A real table and chairs, well that took some work! I hope the outdoor picnic was worth it!

I love that picture! Our family should get together more often like that. Then again, maybe not. LOL

i was thinking of this in a novel I have been reading. They mentioned taking the dining room set out to the yard for a party, and I thought to myself “why doesn’t my generation do this???” rest assured, I am adding it to my 2008 goal list! dinner party in the yard, WITH our dining room set.

It might be easier to set up a card table and some folding chairs outside. But, most people probably wouldn’t do that either, unless the Jone’s were doing it.

The whole table/chairs thing is pretty funny- especially because I remember eating in their backyard a lot when I was little. Did they always drag out the kitchen table ensemble? Another item of note: I am fat!!!
