Today we planned to go to a pumpkin patch with all my husband’s family (minus my hubby who had to work). I thought it was going to be a little trip to the patch, snap a couple of pictures and be done. Instead, we drove an hour into beautiful north Georgia. Up and down the mountains, through the beautiful leaves and trees and into a pumpkin patch that had the biggest pumpkins I’ve ever seen. Seriously, it’s almost freaky how large those things can grow!
The kids ran through the pumpkins,
they got to ride in a wheelbarrow,
drive a tractor,
and go on a remarkable hay ride!
My favorite part was the two loaves of pumpkin bread I bought. I can’t wait to eat it toasted with a little butter for breakfast. YUM.
Then we decided to go down the road and see Amicalola Falls. Absolutely breathtaking. Lydia was in heaven, she picked so many pretty leaves as we walked down the trail to the waterfall it looked like she was carrying a bouquet!
Well, we were feeling adventurous so after the waterfall, we stopped at an apple orchard! I love apple trees- I don’t know what it is. They are so gnarled and seem spooky. Or maybe it’s because they are all planted in a row in an orchard. It seems like I’m in a book! We walked through the orchard down to a little petting zoo with goats, baby chicks and even pigs! Of course my favorite part was the apple butter, apple cake and the big bag of apples I bought.
Even though none of the kids took a nap, we had a spectacular day! A day full of God’s creation and so so much food! So, what’d you do today?
(oh, and don’t forget to vote for Lydia’s chef costume!)

So beautiful. The pumpkin patch we went to locally was picked over. I was just thinking we needed to go to another one with daddy and have some family fun. How far is that place from me?

By the way, these photos are GREAT!! Looks like you had a wonderful time. We’ll be repeating similar plans today … if they rain stays at bay.

I know this pumpkin farm…it’s Burt’s! We went there every year for the five years we lived in the N. GA mountains. It was always such fun.
The photos are fabulous. I love the first one of Lydia. As they say, priceless.

Lydia looks sooo cute! And I love the Georgia mountains. My husband and I stayed in Blairsville for a while a couple years ago and spent a couple hours in Helen.

Love them!! I like the one of L looking towards the bridge. What a great shot! And I’m completely jealous that it’s still so nice there. Oh yeah, you live in the south. Not fair 🙂
