It is Spring! I’m hoping the old adage is true and March will go out like a lamb this year. These beautiful sunshiney, breezy, dandelion days are spoiling me! Lydia and I spent 2 hours outside yesterday. Her favorite game is “Walk in the Grass”. It’s riveting. Her second favorite game is “Pick up the Ball”. Also outstanding.
When I was in college (how’s that for a transition?), I studied Theology (“the study of God”). One of the first terms we learned was “general revelation”. It’s the idea that God reveals himself to every person through creation. My definition would be, “God gives the general population a revelation of Himself through nature.”
These past few days, I have had that revelation. Lydia is walking through the grass laughing and babbling. She wants to explore every hill, every stump, every new tree. She points to a leaf and says with wonder, “Dabadooddagakattadot!” She picks up a dandelion and giggles when I blow the seeds away. The breeze makes her hair dance around her face. The sun makes her eyes sparkle. The scent of spring energizes her!
I see all this and say, “God is so real!” I wanted to blog about it eloquently and with clarity. But, this is the best I can get. When I’m stuck for words, I let God’s Words help me out:
The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
They speak without a sound or word;
their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
and their words to all the world. (Psalm 19:1-4)
In case you just skimmed over that because it’s a scripture, go back and read it again. (*pause*) Isn’t that beautiful?! Next time you look at a dainty flower and admire it’s beauty, remember it’s showing you God, the Creator of the Universe. He crafted it just for you!
