So. Pretty much, it’s Chistmas time. I don’t know what has happened to our world when Halloween ushers in the Christmas season but I honestly feel like that’s what’s happened! Am I the only one?!
I think it has something to do with Truth in the Tinsel, too. People have been buying Truth in the Tinsel for the past month and the Facebook page is already going crazy–we had 5,000 fans last November and there are over 10,000 today! Yowza! So, yeah, we’re kinda in Christmas mode around here.
And even though I want to relish the fall and Thanksgiving, I can’t help but get excited about ALL. THE. CHRISTMAS. THINGS. In fact, I’ve decided to start a little series. Yeah, I’m still doing the 31 Days series and yeah, I still haven’t finished my ohRV trip reports. But I just have some Christmasness I wanna share with you!
So, over the course of November and December, we’ll be having an ohChristmas! Aren’t you excited? (I know, you can hardly contain your excitement!) I’ll show you some of my favorite Christmasy stuff to help you lead your kids to Jesus and I’ve got some of my favorite bloggers/people lined up for some fabulous Christmas guest posts! I cannot wait!
Today’s first installment is actually a gift. Well, it’s called A Christmas Gift for Rose. It’s a little Amish novella by my friend and hero, Tricia Goyer. I read it in carpool and finished it during naps yesterday. I may have cried a time or twenty. This is one of the few Amish books I’ve read in the last few years and I really enjoyed it!
I’m trying to figure out how to tell you the plot without, you know, telling you the plot!Β It’s about love and secrets coming to light, Amish life and family. Really, it’s about family. How God knits families together regardless of culture or birthplace. It’s the story of how God adopts each of us into His family so we can live as sons and daughters of a King!
Oh, that’s why I love Christmas, friends! To remind ourselves of what this baby born in a manger means–not just that a baby was born. Instead, a Savior was born–a King came to live and die for us! A Savior and Rescuer came to live with us so we could live with Him forever!
I know, I know, our world has made Christmas come too fast. Consumerism is at an all-time high. But oh! if we can use this wave of Christmas-crazy to lead our kids to Jesus and to make His name great in their lives!
*whew*
I get kinda worked up about Christmas. *sheepish grin* OK. That’s all. Tomorrow I’ve got a fun Allume recap for you and then Friday I’m announcing our Monthly Mission for November! I cannot wait!
Oh! Wanna win a copy of A Christmas Gift for Rose by Tricia Goyer?
Of course you do!
Leave me a comment about your favorite Christmas book and you’ll be entered to win! And don’t forget to stop by Tricia Goyer’s blog–she is full of parenting and writing wisdom. You will fall in love with her if you haven’t already!

My favorite Christmas book to read to my little monkies would be, “Merry Christmas, Big Hungry Bear”. I know it’s not about Jesus being born but I do love how it teaches my kids about giving and not being selfish! Especially during Christmas time π

Especially At Christmas written by Celestine Sibley was recently read to me by my beloved father-in-law and I savored the time with him and each story in the book. It was copywritten in 1969 so I don’t know how difficult it is to find now. The author shares lessons learned at Christmas from incredibly rich experiences she had with very different individuals. Very rewarding read.

Pick a favorite Christmas book!?!?! That’s quite a task! I love Song of the Stars as creation sings of the baby Christ coming.. Who doesn’t love the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Of course this gingerbread fanatic loves the classic Gingerbread Man and the Gingerbread Baby. This year I bought my kiddos God Gave Us Christmas and I can’t wait to see how much my kiddos like it.
