A Tribute to All Nations But Especially America

camp rocks

camp bus!

After church yesterday we took our annual drive-the-square-peg-kids-to-camp-rocks adventure. My kids were so ridiculously excited about it you would have thought THEY were going to camp. We left home at 2:15 and got home at 10:15pm. We could have driven to Disney World in that time.

Lydia and Asa were absolutely fantastic with literally zero complaining even in a hot and sweaty bus. We did have a potty accident with Asa, so we had to stop at Walmart to buy some undies, shorts and a shirt. (Yup, all 3!) In the parking lot of Walmart was a FIREWORKS TENT!

You may remember that my daughter is TERRIFIED of fireworks. But she assured us that she *loves* fireworks and wanted to buy some. Well, I personally DO love fireworks, so we bought ’em! And when we arrived home at 10pm, we figured it was a perfect time to have Independence Day Eve! We played with sparklers, shot off sparkler fountains and even lit a can of worms and egg-laying-moving-turtles! (Who knew?!) The kids were GIDDY! They were jumping up and down, screaming with delight and clapping their hands with every spark. (Maybe delirious would be a better description.)

This morning, their late night is showing. I’m hoping for an early bedtime (before the fireworks start) and a day full of cleaning the house, eating fruit and veggies from our CSA, playing with Asa’s new T-ball set, long naps and maybe even some s’mores!

What are you doing this 4th of July?

{oh, and I can’t NOT link to the Price of Freedom audio drama at Whits End today! I cried listening to it!}

{you DO know the source of my title, don’t you?}

      Guess the fee for taking the SAT are going to rise. Confused in NJ says:September 28, 2011 at 5:17 pmSeton Hall University is panlning to reduce its annual tuition by $21,000 for some incoming freshmen next fall. Incoming freshmen with high SAT scores and are in the top 10 percent of their graduating high school class would be eligible for the reduction. The university will match Rutgers Universitye28099s undergraduate tuition e28094 which is currently $10,104 for in-state students e28094 if freshmen score at least 1,200 on their SAT tests, have a composite ACT score of 27 or above and graduate in the top 10 percent of their high school class. Other students will continue to pay Seton Halle28099s regular tuition rate, which is currently $31,440 annually before room, board and other costs are added.Just glad my boy graduated S.H. in 1989. Wouldn’t want to pay $31K+.

      I’m not sure which large file is slowing down the home page, but wheiecvhr one it is freezes the screen for about 60 seconds. Based on past download times, my prime suspect is the system map that’s included in the August 30 Restoration Missouri System Map Now Available post from about a week ago. And since the screen freezes, I can’t scroll down to see which file is actually laoding / is the culprit. Once that post goes away (as new ones are added), I’ll let you know if load speeds return to normal . Thanks!

      Mark Fleming, chief economist for CoreLogic. However, coeuintnd price declines, high levels of negative equity and a sluggish labor market will keep the shadow supply elevated for an extended period of time. CoreLogic said the decline is driven by a pace of new delinquencies that is slower than the pace of the disposition of distressed assets.The company estimates the current stock of properties in the shadow inventory, or pending supply, by calculating the number of distressed properties not listed on multiple listing services that are more than 90-days deliquent, in foreclosure and real estate owned by lenders.Of the 1.6 million properties currently in the shadow inventory, 770,000 units are seriously delinquent (2.2-monthse28099 supply), 430,000 are in some stage of foreclosure (1.2-monthse28099 supply) and 390,000 are already in REO (1.1-monthse28099 supply).

    Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

    The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
