I Love My Husband: Top Ten {Tuesday}

top ten list

When I went to the (in)courage party at Blissdom, they were giving away tons of free cards. I got a whole pack of Encouragement/Hope cards. And I also picked up 2 romantical-type cards for my husband. When I read the first one I got tears in my eyes and knew I wanted to give it to him for Valentine’s Day. It says something like, “Have I told you lately that you are a good man? Well, you are.” So, I listed 10 (yes, 10) reasons I love him…10 reasons he IS a good man. {I promise I didn’t do this just for a blog post!}

And because I don’t think it should stay on a card here are…

1. He gets Asa up every morning.

This started when Lydia was a baby. He’d get her up when I needed to nurse in the middle of the night. It was kind of like his “turn”. Now he gets Asa up in the mornings. And brings him straight into the bed and goes back to sleep. But still. At least I don’t have to hike up the stairs every day.

2. He cleans the shower.

The other day he said to me, “The shower is moldy.” And I said, “Hmm. I didn’t notice.” The next morning I got int he shower and realized why I didn’t notice–I don’t wear my contacts in the shower. And since I can’t see past the end of my nose, I wouldn’t notice if a swamp had set up in our shower! So, now he cleans the shower when it starts getting funky.

3. He lets me lay on the couch and put my feet on his lap when we’re watching TV.

What can I say? I like putting my feet up.

4. He is always thinking of our future.

My husband is the master of long-term goals. He thinks of so many strategies to sell-the-car-and-buy-this-then-sell-that-and-make-money-here. Then start-this-business-and-give-this-away. He never stops asking what will happen in 10 years if we do this today? He always has his eye on our kids’ college, our empty nest and retirement.

my favorite picture of us {circa 2005}

6. He lights up when he’s with the kids.

7. He works hard for our family.

He owns 2 businesses and can be seen regularly in front of a computer, driving around Atlanta, standing on a roof or fixing someone’s basement. He’s a hard worker.

8. He thinks my blog is famous.

He always says, “Why don’t you just go to some big company and ask them to put an ad on your site?! Why wouldn’t they want your traffic?!” {He’s nice. But naive.}

9. He tells me I’m beautiful.

10. He loves me.

Sometimes I look at the attitudes and yucky-ness inside of me and I’m just so thankful that he loves me.

  5. You have a wonderfully sweet hubby! Treasure him, which you obviously do. It’s wonderful have met the men of our dreams. They are so special.

  6. What a sweet post! I love the mushy love letters in bloggy form:)

  16. Oh Amanda that is beautiful! I love to know that someone out there has a great marriage even if I NEVER did! Maybe some day I will find a perfect match for myself (and my little kiddies) but the best thing is to be happy in whatever we have daily. That photo is precious and speaks thousands of words. So fun. Thanks for sharing :)

    • Oh, Jodi! Of course you’re only seeing the good parts…life is full of ups and downs! But yes, I can’t complain–He loves God, loves me, loves our kids. Praying that God leads someone to you and your sweet family!

  17. I love your list.

    I TOO am blind as a bat without glasses first thing in the morning so I never notice the shower either!

    I love that he loves your blog too :)

  18. I love your list. I love that your husband cleans the shower. My husband says he can tell if I have cleaned when the shampoo is in a different spot.

  19. What a sweet post and a GREAT picture! I can totally relate to #10–I wonder often why my husband even bothers. I can act so grumpy, so mean when I’m tired and overwhelmed. But he just loves me, anyway, never stooping to my level.

    And I just saw your previous post–congrats to Lydia and you!

  20. What an awesome, fun picture of the two of you!

  21. You and Lydia have the exact same smile in the Disney photo and the trampoline photo! Priceless!

  22. I love a man who’ll clean a shower or do laundry or take out the trash….What can I say? My love language is “Acts of Service!” :)

  23. This is my favorite post….ever!
    I love you.

  24. Aw, this is super cute. I hope that I can write something like this about my husband one day. Oh, and I don’t think I’ve ever been so proud to be les’ sister. What a good husband and dad! :)

  26. Love your lists… especially ones about love!
    Though I am having issues getting my lists to link. I put in the info, but they just dont show up… boohooo!

  27. What a sweet and supportive husband! Precious gift from the Father!

  28. I really love this. I recently wrote a similar “admiration” post about my husband.

    Also – whoever wrote the text to that greeting card nailed it. Short, simple, uplifting. “Have I told you lately that you are a good man? Well, you are.”

  29. Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

  30. Excellent Post. I hope many people will get advantage from this post.Thank’s a lot.

  31. Great Post! Glad I found your blog! Will be back for more! Thanks

  32. Thanks for sharing your ideas here. The other issue is that when a problem takes place with a personal computer motherboard, folks should not consider the risk of repairing the item themselves for if it is not done right it can lead to irreparable damage to the complete laptop. It is usually safe to approach the dealer of that laptop for any repair of motherboard. They have got technicians who definitely have an experience in dealing with laptop computer motherboard troubles and can get the right analysis and accomplish repairs.

  33. I really like the layout of your site. I appreciate the quality of the information. You have done a first-rate job. Thank you very much

  34. some genuinely fantastic work on behalf of the owner of this internet site , dead great written content .

  35. I truly like the design of your site. I welcome the excellence of the information. You have done a exceptional job. Thank you very much

  36. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

  7. […] How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Ways. By EstherIrish, on February 14th, 2011 In honor of Valentine’s day I’d like to share a few things that I appreciate about my husband.  This list is not exhaustive or in any particular order. 1. When I crawl into bed after he’s already asleep, he says, “You awesome woman,” or some such variation -almost every time! 2.  He likes to take the whole family out to eat and is actively involved with the children at the restaurant. 3.  He watches movies with me even though that’s not his favorite past time. 4.  He chose me and has never acted like he’s regretted it, although at times I wouldn’t blame him if he did.  5.  He loves my extended family and is just as excited as I am when we can spend time with them. 6.  He and I enjoy the same type of games. 7.  He takes the kids for a half hour to an hour in the evenings on a regular basis so that I can do something without them. 8.  He encourages me to stay fit and healthy.  Well at least I’ll appreciate this some day!  Ha! 9.  His first compliment to me was, “You have the perfect nose.” 10.  He works with the kids helping them review their memory work. 11.  He is the provider and wants me to be home with our children. 12.  He makes me feel witty and doesn’t try to one up me.  He just smiles and says, “How do you think of these things?” 13.  He encourages me to keep learning. 14.  He lets me write and share stories about funny things he does. 15.  He doesn’t feel the need to be the center of attention. 16.  He trusts me. 17.  He is patient with me and the kids. 18.  He likes spicy food and will enjoy it with me. 19.  He doesn’t ever speak ill of me to others. 20.  He can keep a secret. Happy Valentine’s day Jason! This post is linked to Marriage Mondays and Top Ten Tuesdays. […]
