Self-Esteem: A Retro Photo

Hazel. Mildred. Virginia. 1928.
Hazel is my great-grandmother. My mom said Great-Grandma was a very strange woman. When she saw this picture my mom speculated that Great Grandma scratched her own face out. Isn’t that freaky? And even if that’s not the case, someone MUST have scratched it out. So, regardless, this picture makes me feel weird.

Oooh…someone was ticked off at Hazel! I love the 20s (or30s?) style of clothes and hats.

I think Hazel stole Mildred’s boyfriend and that was the last straw.
I also like to make up stories- just so you know- in case that’s NOT true.
PS- why isn’t Lydia named Hazel, Mildred or Virginia?

hmm…or siblings? I remember when I was little…I dont recall who initiated the photographic warfare; but my sister and got into a brawl defacing each others face on a photo my mom had hanging on a bulleting board. One of us put pin dots in the others photo where the eyes were… the other retatliated… it went back and forth until neither of us had a face in that photo. gosh, we were brats.

I love cool old photos, but you are right, it’s a little unnerving about the face being scratched out.

That is really freaky….
How are you? We met at the Disney bloggers thingy last year. I’m wondering if you know anybody who has teenage kids – I want to know whether the Gap year is just as big in the US as in the UK and if so would parents be interested in their kids going to China. Just done a blog post on it and don’t know who to ask! Think your kids all a bit young…..
Could you help point me in the right direction do you think? Can’t seem to add link – http://www.familyaffairsandothermatters.com/category/travel/ Thanks!!
