We have finally bought some furniture for our house! You do remember when we moved in, right? Yes, eons ago.
It’s not like we don’t have any furniture. We bought some nice stuff when we lived in Birmingham: a beautiful dining room set, a cute kitchen table, a nice upholstered chair and the best armoire ever. BUT we still have the same wicker chairs we bought in our first apartment. We have never (in 11 years of marriage) owned bedside tables. We don’t have a desk. (Thank goodness I have a laptop, right? Imagine toting our desktop around. Heh.) The only piece of furniture in Lydia’s room is her toddler bed. No one has a dresser except for Asa. We have an entire room that has ZERO furniture—not even a basket. I’m telling you, if anyone came to our house and didn’t know us, they’d think we were squatters!
We had been looking for a furniture store that is slightly cooler than Pottery Barn but not as modern as Ikea. (Both stores I adore!) And we found it! Nadeau in Atlanta is divine. They sell furniture at wholesale prices and I just wanted to cart the whole store into my car.
Anyway, I haven’t taken pictues of our NEW BEDSIDE TABLES (yet!). But now that they are cozily nestled beside our bed, our alarm clocks look positively trashy. It’s just a normal black digital alarm clock but it just seems out of place on our pretty new furniture.
I started clicking around last night to find some cool alarm clocks but can’t find anything. I’d love some rustic, vintagey looking clocks like these at Pottery Barn…
But I can’t read that in the middle of the night. I’m too blind!
I found tons of “COOL & UNIQUE!” posts about alarm clocks but mainly they’d show the crazy clocks. And as much as I like to be different…uhm, well, I don’t think a Wake-n-Bacon clock is actually a good idea…
Seriously. Have you ever seen a good looking alarm clock? I went to Apartment Therapy and all the usual designs sites but couldn’t find anything. I wish they made beautiful digital clocks!
And don’t worry. I’ll be posting pictures of the new furniture. After all, that’s how this blogging gig even started! But I’m waiting to do it justice because WE ARE GOING TO BUY A DESK THIS WEEKEND! Wheeeee! I feel like a bootlegger’s wife! (<—movie quote alert!)

If it makes you feel any better, I have Ethan Allen furniture in my bedroom but my alarm clock is the same, old, plastic-with-bright-green-numbers (that I still can’t see at night because I, too, am blind) radio with tape (yes, TAPE) player that my husband got from his Dad’s TV store when he went to college in 1987.
There’s hope, though. I just got rid of the 20 YO mattress my older son has been sleeping on – today.
I’m a rebel…

Can’t think of the movie and it’s killing me.
And I love the Wakin Bacon clock! Hysterical! Does it require you to put raw bacon it in before you got to bed? I’m not sure how I feel about that. Probably wouldn’t go over so well if there was anything similar to a wild animal nearby.
Anyway, YAY for your new furniture and I can’t wait to see it!
I love the vintage clocks, but I can see your point (no pun intended) about it being difficult to see at night. Someone should make a clock that looks that cool but has some kind of feature that allows you to see a digital readout at night. wouldn’t that be neat??!
Our new-to-us store is West Elm. It’s got hip modern type furnishings. We also like Design Within Reach, but the prices don’t live up to the stores name. Have you looked at CB2? (it’s an off-shoot of Crate and Barrel).
How fun to buy new furnishings!! I can’t wait to see your pics!!!!
That Wakin Bacon thing reminds me of the episode of The Office when Michael cooked his foot in the Foreman grill. lol. I’m weird that way.

Well, I just happen to think that the Wake-n-Bacon is the best thing I’ve ever seen. But you know me, I’m KLASSY like that.
Oh how I love vintage pieces! I’ve been searching for a vintage/vintage-inspired clock for so long – and nothing. I hope you have better luck. (Have you checked Etsy?)
Can’t wait to see the new furniture!

Wow, wake-n-bacon!? Some people think of the weirdest things! I can’t wait to see more of your home furniture!!
Wake-n-bacon? That’s a new one! I have a Homemedics clock that projects the time on the wall. It is digital, but it looks cooler than most other alarm clocks I’ve seen. It also gives the inside temperature and the outside temperature.

hours are wonderful, that’s what occurred when he saw it, it becomes a collection for the living room that will complete the existing furniture. hours with a pig’s head-shaped wooden box a unique, very funny. is there any other examples of this funny hour?
