You are here: Home / me / It’s Not You. It’s Me.

It’s Not You. It’s Me.

I know. You should never apologize for not showing up to your own blog. But still, a little explanation should be in order, right?

Well, I don’t have one of those either? The thing is I rarely NOT post. I pride myself on posting 6 days a week. But for some reason I’m feeling like the anti-blog lately. Maybe I’ve run out of things to say? Or how to share them? I don’t know but even with the big events of my life in the last few weeks (a trip to California, Disneyland, family, a big bloggy event, etc.) I’m feeling very unpassionate about sharing it all with you.

And passion is what blogging is all about. Passion for your subject, your voice, your audience, your life, your memories.

Anyway, I don’t want this to turn into a send-me-some-comment-love or one of those boring why-did-i-just-read-this posts, but at the same time I’ve been feeling very strange lately and had to post it for posterity sake. You know in case my kids ever want to know that I’m not always the perfect human being they know me to be.

*snicker*

In other news, I have finally watched the first episode of The Amazing Race. (How was that for a change of topic?) Yes, I’m only three weeks behind. But can I just say that if I was one of the following:

1. Beauty Pageant Winner (you know I could…)
2. Gay Christian (or gay minister would be even better)
3. Married to a jerky egotistical chauvinistic man
4. Strangely famous (think pro-bowler, guiness world record holder or other randomness)

I could be on The Amazing Race! I’m really thinking that a great team would be TWO BLOGGERS THAT HAVE NEVER MET IN REAL LIFE. Who wants to audition with me?! Come on! We could totally win!!

{and with a post like this under our belts, aren’t you excited to tune into my blog for the rest of the week?!}

I’m in! I’ll totally audition with you! My husband hates to travel and I want to see the world! What better way, then with a complete stranger! Here’s my resume:
*I’m easy to get along with
    *adaptable
    *in pseudo good shape
    *fun
    *organized
    *a good traveler
If it makes you feel any better, I still haven’t watched any episodes of the Amazing Race this season, they’re all saved on my Tivo.
So there. That’s me. I’m in!

    Amanda,

I would SO totally audition with you. How would two people who had never met, but spoke on a message board for three years come across? I think we could sell it 🙂

Glad that things are well with you….I was wondering if something was up since you hadn’t posted much recently. You should give an update on your Dad!

Ben has declared me to be “the last person on earth” whom he would choose to be his amazing race partner….and to be honest, I don’t blame him. So, I can’t really offer you a good partnership, but I would love to watch you on tv!

I understand, Amanda. I felt the same way, which is why my blogging has been lagging this year!

Please, an update on your dad!!

I have seen you around Twitter, but I wondered what happened to you over here. I feel ya. I have a new baby as an excuse I guess, but I pretty much have just scheduled a bunch of product reviews and giveaways through the end of August so I don’t have to use the creative part of my brain which seems to be on permenant vacation. Hope you come back soon!!

You’re right on, girl. Ya need passion – it doesn’t help with recent negativity either 🙁 I’m so glad I got to talk to you a few weeks ago. It’s just what I needed! You are such an encouragement 🙂

I miss reading, but I know what it’s like to just not feel it. My blog has been pretty quiet lately, too. I hope you’re still posting a Top Ten tomorrow, since I actually have something ready! 🙂

I recently tweeted about my “meh” over social media right now (yes, I get the irony that I *tweeted* it…moving on…). I think what has gotten me recently is how much more powerful my connection is to my family and friends and home when I’m OFF THE COMPUTER. Ever since the Type A conference I’ve been considering how to find a balance in my life, and it logically includes less time online. And I’ve been surprisingly ok with that. It’s been hard to be passionate about blogging when there’s a growing part of me that would be fine if the internet blew up tomorrow. I really hope it doesn’t, though, because I really do like the online world, just in moderation.

I’ve felt like this recently too. I think mostly because I am just so exhausted that when I do sit down to write a blog post, my mind is completely numb and without logical thought. Hoping to get rested up while my mom is visiting. I’ll have a live in nanny/Grammy for 3 weeks!!!! woohoo!!
