August 1938
My great-great-grandmother wrote on the back of this picture. According to her they are in West Branch, Michigan. And the people are: Agda, Henry, Dara, Ed, Dad (my great-great-grandfather), Arvid, Uno (?), Melvin (?), Henry Jr. The questions marks are hers.
This is an interesting one to me. First of all, Agda. She’s the one sitting in the guy’s lap NOT looking at the camera. Based on what I know speculate about Agda, this is SO her! (You might want to catch up on all the Agda pics. They are…interesting.) If you look closely you can see how the focus is really crisp and clear on my great-great-grandfather and then blurry around the edges. I also like the little boy’s faces…no matter the time-period, boys will be boys! And the house is just full to me–the dark wood, the numbers on the top and what’s that on the right—flowerpots? Very interesting picture.

Another great picture! I have one that I’ll share next week. I need to get my scanner hooked up & I’m just to lazy to do it right now, lol.
The first picture was made over the weekend, but scroll down. That picture was made of Oak Grove School near Amory, MS in 1913. My hubby’s grandfather (Big Daddy) is that first cute little boy on the front row.
Looking at old photos, especially those of family members, is so wonderful and intriguing. I wish that all of mine were annotated on the back ’cause now that my grandmother is gone I don’t remember all of the stories or who a lot of the people are. Love the photo and the observations behind it.
That’s very cool,I just love looking at old photos!

I love looking at old pictures and I have a ton, but I don’t have a scanner. Maybe one day!
Old photos are so interesting. The buildings….the facial expressions….the clothing…almost always there are overalls!
