::themes::

Color Party. We did purple for Lydia’s first birthday. My friend Whitney had a red party once. But how about a multi-color party? This is what my blogging bud Christine did for her daughter—and the best part? They tie-dyed! Colorful, indeed!

Snowflake Party. How could I not include this?!

This Wonderland birthday is my dream party. You know, if you have a few grand to spare.

13 Days of Birthday Parties from Tip Junkie. Be still my heart. I think I’m literally jealous of some of these parties!

Online Party Planning. Family Fun and Parents.com have tons of parties categorized by theme and by age. This will get your creative juices flowing!

::special stuff::

Traditions. I told you about our purple plate. These are different for every family. But here’s a list of some great ones you might want to start.

Birthday Book. Buy a book that goes with the theme of your party…or a book like Dr. Suess’ Happy Birthday to You. Then let the guests write special birthday wishes inside. A great keepsake!

Birthday Hat. I love a good birthday hat. And wouldn’t it be fun to use this yummy felt hat year after year?

Birthday Banners. I adore banners. And flags. Anything that hangs from the ceiling is fun to me! This is a cute idea (you could make it if you were crafty) for any birthday…and it would be fun to pull out year after year.

Birthday Duds. How awesome is this t-shirt? The fingers are velcro so you can customize it to your child’s age! How fun!

::and more::

Invitations. These set the theme for the event! Of course, evites are good because they make planning and RSVPing so easy. BUT–if you need some good ideas, check out these awesome invites I found on flickr. This one is totally inspiring me for Lydia’s next birthday.

Birthday Party 101 by Martha. She oughta know.

This post is very helpful. I have started planning Aubree’s 1st birthday. Lifesize Candyland Game. I hope it turns out the way I am picturing. Melissa is Princess Lolly, Emily is Mr. Mint. I have the Gum Drop trail, Queen Frostine, and King Kandy! Lots of balloon arches, jumbo candy, and food. We are actually going to get started on making the large lollipops and peppermint sticks. Everyone thinks I am crazy for starting so soon. I will send you pics…but that won’t be til June :)
