Thump Quack Moo

We got to meet a real live author! Doreen Cronin, author of Click Clack Moo was at a local bookstore to introduce her new book, Thump Quack Moo.

We own Click Clack Moo and Dooby Dooby Moo (thanks to Chick-fil-a’s Kids’ Meal!) and they are both on our bedtime rotation. (I should have picked up Duck for President. That would be aprapos for right now, don’t you think?) We’ve read Giggle Giggle Quack from the library and Lydia loves them all. I just like them because they are clever and not a typical yawn-a-minute kids’ book.

Anyway, Lydia and I headed out to get a new book and rub elbows with the children’s-book-famous. Here we are with Ms. Cronin.

are you jealous?

After we got our autograph and talked a little, Ms. Cronin read her new book to us. Complete with Thumps, Thwacks and definitely some Quacks. It was really fun and Lydia was so into it. She even wanted to volunteer to draw a picture of Duck at the end!

And here’s my little reader on the way home.

THUMP! QUACK! MOO!

We ended the day at our favorite restaurant and a giant cookie. Quite a fun mother daughter date!

What a fun day! I have read Click Clack Moo so many times through the years. My first grade class while student teaching always wanted me to read it to them. Now I must check out Thump, Quack, Moo for my boy since they love all of the others.

How fun! Click, Clack, Moo is one of our favorites here too. My husband and I both laughed out loud the first time we read it! How cool that you got to meet the author!

I love the whole series of books that she started with Click, Clack, Moo! As a parent, I love the books because they are so much fun to read and enjoy with your child. As a reading teacher, I like the way Ms. Cronin uses some advanced vocabulary words. It really helps boost children’s skills in using context clues to learn new vocabulary words.
