It’s Monday morning. 8:21am. I don’t think I even got online all weekend! My cousin, David graduated from High School on Saturday, then had a party on Sunday.
He’s my only local cousin and he & my aunt lived with us for awhile when he was very little. So sometimes he feels more like a little brother. He is the first person I’ve seen grow up. I was 13 when he was born and remember it clearly. (It was a Friday and that was back in the day when TGIF came on …you know, with Urkel, etc. and Jason and I were so excited to watch it at the hospital. Well, instead it was a MASH marathon. We always hold David accountable for that boring night!) It makes me happy and sad to see him so grown up!
And the kicker was that he graduated from the same High School I did! He was the 18th graduating class and I was the 5th. I don’t remember everything about my graduation. What I do remember is right before it started. We were lined up (I was by my good good friend Jeff) and not even remotely emotional or sad. Then as soon as that music began to play, I started crying!
The pictures of me immediately after graduation is my makeup all smeared down my face. I guess I didn’t realize how much was going to change after that day.
The other thing I remember about graduation is my party/reception afterwards. My brother and I sat on the floor and opened up all my cards…and watched the money fall out! I used all that money to go to Disney World with Staci that summer! Oh, let’s do that again!
Speaking of presents, I’m pretty proud of the one I bought my cousin. It was a themed “basket”…big surprise, right?
Since being GREEN is so big right now, I got him a GREEN gift. It was all inside a cloth grocery bag from the grocery store where he works. It was hilarious to bring a gift in a big grocery store bag!
The bag was actually GREEN, so I filled it with green gifts…a green picture frame, a green HULK pencil (I just thought it was funny & it was $1 at Target), a bag of every green Jelly Belly available, a an actual eco-green tshirt that was made from recycled Coke bottles and of course, the REAL green present was a wad of cash at the bottom of the bag!
Pretty good, huh? Well, it was funny anyway.
So, have you been to any graduations this year? What about your graduation? Any good graduation stories?

Cute gift idea! My sister-in-law just graduated from KSU. She’s going to dental school, so I got her a bracelet that says, “I am still learning” in latin. But you know those people who cry at weddings and funerals? I’m one of those, but add graduations in there, too. Any half-way decent sized emotional moment and I know I have to bring out the waterproof mascara.

What a fun gift! I did the same thing but without all the cute green stuff … just money 🙂
At my niece’s graduation the graduating class kept blowing up and throwing beach balls. The teachers were livid! I thought it was cute.

That gift bag was an AWESOME idea! I may have to copy you on that! We haven’t been to any graduations this year, but HH’s cousin’s daughter (sounds distant, but his family is small and close) just graduated and I need to get her a gift.

I love the gift basket idea! GREAT! My high school grad was less emotional than my “now” hubby’s. He was a year ahead of me, and we had already been dating for a year and he was planning to go out of state to college. I was okay all the way through the evening, until they all walked out and I heard them all let out a cheer. I burst out crying. LOL! Little did I know I’d have him forever!!!!

What a great idea. I’ll have to remember that! I have a nephew who will graduate next year and works at a grocery store. He’d get a kick out of a gift like this.

Thank for putting this together so that I can share it and remind Canadians that we can’t afford to be complacent about the damage this government is doing to the environment and to so many wonderful aspects of our society.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
