Roll Out the Red Carpet!

I’ve already told you I’m a freak and I have crushes on famous people. Well, today folks, I am officially a groupie (not in the Almost Famous way). That’s right, my bff and I are leaving in the morning for Nashville TN and the 38th Annual GMA Dove Awards!

See, it’s really my mom’s fault. When we were little we went to lots of concerts: Mylon LeFevre, Amy Grant, Carman, Geoff Moore, Michael English, 4Him (hi, Andy!), Degarmo & Key, Al Denson, Michael W Smith, Sandi Patti, Take 6, Newsboys, BeBe & CeCe, etc. But Mama really had a crush on Carman. So, we’d try to sneak backstage, dress up like a pizza delivery guy, stalk his bus, etc. Mama even followed him down an escalator once.

But we hit our heyday when my friends and I started crushing on DC Talk. We went to every DCT show we could find. Once Mama drove me and 3 of my friends to Nashville to see them. We waited around by their bus to get autographs and then…oh.my.lord…followed their bus out of town. We even had our binoculars out to see inside the bus. Are we insane or what?!

We’ve met them at least 1o times. I’ve got a DC Talk watch for goodness sakes.

So to celebrate my 30th birthday Staci and I are driving to Nashville to see all the “famous” people in Christian Music Land. Now, I’ve just got to find something to wear. It’s got to be snazzy enough for an awards show but comfortable enough for our hike to the nosebleed seats.

So, tell me who would you drive to 5 hours to see?

Oh my gosh, Have Fun!! Sounds like you will. I remember going to all those ALIVE concerts with our youth group and seeing all the Christian bands. I got to meet and get my picture taken with EAST to WEST. Remember those guys? Now the one guy is in Rascal Flats, making it huge!! Crazy.

Last week I drove 4 hours to San Antonio and 4 hours back so that I could see the cutest newborn ever.

I don’t know who I’d drive 5 hours to see, but there’s got to be someone…..anyway, I’m excited for ya! That’s something I’d like to do someday. Please come back and let us know how everything went!
Oh, oh, I’d drive to see Steven Curtis Chapman. That may make me older than y’all, but he’s got it goin’ on! Older man or not (considering the average age of contemp christian artists these days), you have to give him that! His concerts rock!

I am SO jealous! You guys are going to have a blast. Who would I drive 4 hours to see? Hmmm, Indigo Girls, Mika, Keane, Coldplay, Aqualung, REM. Other than a big concert/awards show like you’re going to, those are the only individuals that I’d drive far to see. Did I mention that I’m jealous?
