How Good is God?!

Yesterday boomama started Heather‘s day of love. At 9am we had raised $2,000! It continued to go up all day. This morning at 9am we had $10,000! Is that the most amazing thing?!

It makes me think about how God is in the details. Heather doesn’t know me from Adam. This is just my impression of what’s going on in her life. But, what if Heather didn’t have a blog? What if she hadn’t been open and transparent on her blog? What if BooMama (and Beth and others) had said, “Well, we don’t really *know* Heather…” and did nothing? God knew when Heather started her blog that He would use it to do a miracle in her life!

I tried to find the verse that says, “What the devil intended for evil, God uses for good”* because I think this is what is happening in Heather’s life…what happened in Daddy‘s life. The Bible does say in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” The devil wants to steal Heather’s life, kill her and destroy her family. But guess what? Jesus came so Heather could have life.

I know, I know, you’re thinking, “Well, doesn’t that mean spiritual life? Like life in Heaven?” Sure. But can’t it ALSO mean, life here on earth?! When Jesus was on earth He didn’t have them bring all the sick to Him so He could send them to Heaven! He healed them–so they could have LIFE ON EARTH. And I guarantee all those people followed Jesus their whole life and are spending the rest of their life in Heaven with Him!

I firmly believe God has good for us. He doesn’t look in his toolbox and say, “Let’s see…cancer. That’ll teach her to love her family and appreciate me. Financial problems…oh, I like that one!” The world is just sinful. People are just evil. Bad stuff just happens. But when God’s people pray, when they rely on Him and His Word, miracles happen. God already knows the beginning to the end. He planned Heather’s blog so when the devil, the world, or high fructose corn syrup gave her this tumor, she would have the portal to hundreds and thousands of praying people.

I look at Heather’s story and see the beginnings of a miracle. I totally believe that one day soon Heather is going to post a picture of her brain with no tumor. I know God is in the details of her life.

And reading her story and seeing the people around the internet-world give money, leave comments, start contests, write posts and send up prayers, it makes me confident that God is intimately acquainted to the details of our lives. He’s acquainted with my details, too. What miracles does He have in store for me? For you?

What are your thoughts?

*(btw, is that really a verse? I couldn’t find it!)

How about…Gen 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. (NIV)

We are praying for Heather also.

Amen. I know God has a plan for us, but I hadn’t fully thought it out like you did regarding Heather…that He knew her blog would bring her & her family what they needed when they needed it. Thank you for making that so clear to me. 🙂 I also fully believe God is in my details…right down to that perfect parking spot at Target when it’s raining. Or the perfect something I found while thrifting last week. I don’t think any of the perfect little “nothings” in my life are accidents…they are all blessings.

I read this over the weekend, Amanda, and was so impressed (still am!) with what all you have done for her. You are an amazing person. God is good to each one of us . . . to Heather for making people like you to help her, and to you for giving you such a gift of giving. I love you for this, Amanda, and you inspire me . . . always.

    Praying for Heather . . .
