So. My little girl went to camp.
And guess what?
SHE LOVED IT.
She had the absolute time of her life. It was THE camp experience I wanted her to have. The camp experience we prayed for!
She told me she wasn’t nervous the entire week! Her counselor said all the girls in the cabin loved Lydia and wanted to sit by her and hold her hand. She loved her counselors, her cabin mates, her classes and just every single thing about it. She did not stop talking all the way home and carried her little camp yearbook around for about four days.
*happiest of all happy sighs*
She took three classes at camp: Duct Tape Doodads, Tshirt Crafts and Cross stitch. It was a very crafty week for her! When she began to unpack her bag and show me all the cute stuff she made I knew I had to share it with you.
It’s not anything you’ve never seen on Pinterest but to see it all in one place? Made by an 8 year old? Pretty cool. I’ll link to a decent Pinterest tutorial below each one because, this is not a tutorial, friend. Just a look-how-adorable-my-daughter-is post.
ENJOY!
OK. Seriously. They made these flipflops! That red, white and blue cuteness is just strips of tshirts! Easy tutorial here.
THIS is my favorite. It’s an old tshirt cut straight across from armpit to armpit. Then with another strip of tshirt threaded through the original hem, it’s a drawstring skirt!! (Fun tutorial here!)
OH! And we are totally stealing this idea at Christmas to make skirts for our Operation Christmas Child boxes!!! How awesome is that?!!
Here’s an simple idea that uses bleach! Here’s a fun tutorial where they used freezer paper but I think masking tape would work, too.
How cute and easy is this necklace? Just a washer decorated with Sharpies tied to a long strip of t-shirt. Lydia said they cut it out and then stretched it as long as they could to make it hang around their necks. (No tutorial because that is crazy easy.)
Now, moving right along to Duct Tape Doodads…
These flip flops are just cardboard covered in duct tape. Here’s a tutorial.
And how easy peasy is this? It’s just attached to a bobby pin. Here’s a semi-close version of this bow.
And the famous flower pen. I’ve actually got a tutorial on this right here on my blog!
This coin purse is crazy cute! We did some Duct Tape crafts with my sister-in-law and nieces a few weeks ago and we made two of these. They turned out adorable. I can’t find an exact match to this coin purse, but here’s a pretty good looking tutorial for another version.
Not pictured is a couple of headbands, bracelets and an insanely adorable t-shirt purse.
So, what do you think? Wanna go to camp next year?

Oh my goodness, my daughter would have loved doing all of those crafts! I think a trip to Goodwill is in order to make those skirts! How fun!

The subject line had me thinking you’d commissioned “Oh Amanda” printed duct tape. Truly an idea that’s long overdue!

Love these ideas! What did they have the boys make?
oh amanda says
The only craft I heard about was tie-died t-shirts. Only the way they died them was by having dye in water guns and squirting each other w/them! 🙂
