Part 7? Are you exhausted yet? I am!
See, I told you, writing a post is time-consuming! We’ve written it, proofread it, made it sticky, added photos (legally), optimized it for search engines and monetized it. Now you need people to find it!
One of the quickest and most widely spread ways to promote your posts is on Facebook. I have my own personal Facebook page and an ohAmanda fan page.
My personal page is just personal. I rarely link to my blog. It’s just my preference to keep it as blog free as possible.
However, my ohAmanda fan page is basically just a giant interactive RSS feed! So, after my post is published, I link to it on my ohAmanda wall. I try (keyword: try) to be clever and witty, not just “hey, I posted. read it.”.
What’s good about this is anyone who LIKES my page, will (potentially) see my post in their newsfeed. If they LIKE or SHARE my post, it will show up on their wall for others to see. So, potentially way more than just my fans will see it–all their friends could see it, too!
I usually do these updates manually. Er, by hand. Uhm. Well, what I mean is, I don’t use Hootsuite to schedule them or an app on Facebook that automatically pulls them to my wall.
Why don’t I use them you ask?
Because you can HIDE all those applications on Facebook! You know how you hide Farmville and Play-This-Dumb-Game-With-Me? Well, you can hide Hootsuite, RSS Graffiti and more. I don’t want someone to hide those apps and then wonder why I never update!
I also try (when I’m in a bloggy, promotional kind of mood) to update my Facebook status one more time a day–not with my post. I think that’s overkill. But I’ll say something silly about whatever TV show I’m watching, ask a question or mention something cute the kids did. It draws people back to my page and HOPEFULLY brings them back to my site!
Do you have a bloggy Facebook tip?
Stay Tuned for Part 8: Twitter

I just stumbled apon your blog through The 36th Ave link. So much amazing information here! I read this and a few other posts and I am full of information! Thank you so much for all you insightful blogging tips. I look forward to implementing many. Thank you!
I think facebook is a great way to promote blogs. I go through phases with it though; sometimes I’m on fb ALL the time, and others, I don’t want anything to do with it. This series was so good. 🙂 You rock.
Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.
Awesome post! 2 Thumbs up! Happy to read your post! Thanks!
Really vital publish admin good one particular i bookmarked your web site see you in next blog site submit.
Your post was very insightful. I really appreciate you taking your time out to write this wonderful post. I have a blog as well that writes about IMEI Check. Do you know what it is?
i bookmarked you in my browser admin thank you so much i will likely be in search of your up coming posts
Fantastic post admin! i bookmarked your internet blog site. i’ll search ahead should you will have an e-mail variety including.
Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
Thank you for the awesome article! Will be back for more..
I hardly drop responses, but i did some searching and wound up here Facebook for Bloggers | ohamanda.com. And I do have some questions for you if it’s allright. Is it only me or does it look like a few of the comments come across like written by brain dead visitors? 😛 And, if you are writing on other places, I would like to follow everything new you have to post. Would you make a list of every one of your public sites like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
I’m enjoying this series Amanda! I have trouble keeping both my personal page and fan page updated. If I want to share something random or funny that has nothing to do with my blog I tend to just put it on my personal page but keep just my posts to my fan page or post things that are somewhat related to my blog theme and then i think im not interacting well on my fan page in the end. Any thoughts on that? (if my question makes sense)
